July Favorites: Recommendations

Image
The summer is flying by! I can't believe July is already over. The next time I blink, summer will be over. But, for now, there's still time to rock beautiful, summer makeup looks (and to attend Game of Thrones viewing parties, but there's not a lot of makeup in that show, so I guess it's not really relevant). B.A.E. Illuminating Face Primer by Lottie London ($9.99) - Ulta recently started selling a new, British cosmetic brand called Lottie London. As you can imagine, I get super excited whenever Ulta starts carrying a new brand, so I immediately went on Ulta's website to see what Lottie London was all about. A lot of their products interested me, but I was particularly intrigued by the B.A.E. Illuminating Face Primer. I had just run out of my Wet n' Wild primer, so I decided to pick it up and try it out. Now, as I've said before, there aren't many primers that I don't like. Most primers work pretty well for me, but this one is especially good. I l

July Empties

Image
It's the end of the month, and that means...EMPTIES! You guys know I like empties, so let's get into it: Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation by Maybelline ($7.99) - Okay, I get why everyone is so in to the Maybelline Fit Me line. This is a really good foundation! I mean, this is a foundation I can count on, and there aren't many of those in life. It has medium to full coverage, it has a really nice, demi-matte finish, it has a pretty good shade range, it's easy to mix with other foundations, and it's cheap. What's not to like? I always like the way my makeup turns out when I use this foundation, and I will definitely repurchase it. Hi Definition Photo Concealer Wand by NYX ($4.99) - I know that this concealer gets rave reviews, but, to be honest, I don't really get the hype. This concealer was okay, but it applied unevenly and it's a little too sheer for my taste. True, I was using the Tarte Shape Tape concealer around the same time, so thi

Review: Naked Heat Palette by Urban Decay

Image
If you're concerned that you don't have enough warm neutral transition shades, burnished coppers, or sultry reds in your eyeshadow collection (I know I was), your fears are over. About a month ago, Urban Decay announced the newest palette in their Naked "series," Naked Heat. From my perspective, Naked Heat is Urban Decay's answer to the Modern Renaissance palette by Anastasia. As the name suggests, Naked Heat is full of reds, oranges, purples, and warm toned transition shades. Honestly, I'm surprised it took Urban Decay this long to release a red toned, warm palette like this, especially since it's been so on-trend lately. I feel like there a little behind the times with this release; every other brand has been pouncing on the warm toned neutral craze. Actually, I know that this palette has gotten a lot of hate online because it's not a super unique palette. Let's be real, I could probably dupe every shade in this palette with other shadows

Review: Jaclyn Hill Palette by Morphe

Image
Who else saw Jaclyn Hill's Morphe palette announcement video and just thought "ugh, take my money now!" Well, apparently, everyone because it sold out in 50 minutes. I was one of the few people who were fortunate enough to be able to get their hands on one of these palettes. However, Morphe has announced that they are going to restock it, so, if you didn't get it, and you want it, you'll have at least one more chance to get your hands on it. And, if you're not sure if you want it or not, I'm going to review it for you today, so hopefully you'll be able to make a more informed decision. Look, I'm not one of those people who buys collab products just because they're collabs. When I saw the title of Jaclyn's video, I thought "oh, that's cool, she's coming out with another Morphe palette," then I started to watch the video, and I got progressively more excited, until, at the end, I was like "okay, I have to have that.

Review: Pirates Of The Caribbean Collection by Lorac

Image
When Lorac announced that they were releasing a Pirates of the Caribbean collection, I had to pause my life, go find a cursed treasure with the power to resurrect the dead, and resuscitate myself because I died of excitement. Guys, I love Pirates of the Caribbean. And, when I say Pirates of the Caribbean, I mean old school, Curse of the Black Pearl, why is all the rum gone, skeleton monkey Pirates of the Caribbean, not the At World's End, women turning into crabs, why is Penelope Cruz in this movie Pirates of the Caribbean. Although, On Stranger Tides did produce a bomb OPI nail polish collection, but I digress. Anyway, when I first heard about this palette collection, I had a lot of feelings, as I noted above, but my overwhelming feeling was "I have to buy this." Right there and then--on February what ever it was--I decided that no matter how much it cost or what it looked like I was going to buy this eyeshadow palette. I was like, I hope this palette is good because
