March Favorites: Recommendations

Image
It's officially Spring! (I mean, I think it's Spring, although the weather doesn't seem to know what it's doing). In any case, it's time for the March Favorites blog and -- like it or not -- they're going to be Spring(ish) products. Keratin Mist Leave-In Strengthening Treatment by Chi ($14.50) - I bought this product on the recommendation of my roommate. I wanted something that would strengthen and soften my hair, and this definitely turned out to be the ideal product for me. This product is designed to protect your hair from hot tools like straighteners and curling irons . Even though I don't use either of those things, I still use this product because my hair is just that dry and brittle . I've only been using it for a few weeks, but I already notice a difference in my hair; it's definitely softer and stronger. If you use hot styling tools or if you just have dry hair like me, I highly recommend this product. Also, they give you a HUGE bottl

Brush Haul & Reviews

Image
Okay, so I don't exactly know how this happened, but, somehow, this became makeup brush month for me. (Clearly, I'm not complaining). I ended up buying three brushes this month, which is odd for me because usually I buy makeup brushes once in a blue moon (or, once in a pink moon because I like pink). Brushes by Wet n' Wild ($.99 - 2.99) : So, first off, I bought two brushes from Wet n' Wild's new line of brushes. And, as you may or may not be able to guess, I bought them because Kathleen Lights recommended them. I bought the blush brush and the small concealer brush (because almost everything else was out of stock). Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with these brushes. They're very soft, very pretty, and very, very cheap. And, when I say cheap, I mean $.99 to $2.99. I would say that these are good basic brushes. However, the bristles aren't very tightly packed, which means it isn't the best at blending product on your face. I actually use my blush b

Reviews: Ofra Liquid Lipstick

Image
So, in the spirit of continuing my theme of talking about lipstick all day every day, I wanted to give you a review of my latest lipstick purchase, even though it's not a new product at all. I recently purchased Ofra's liquid lipstick because I'd heard good things about it and, more importantly, because Kathleen Lights had a coupon code . Sometimes, liquid lipsticks are over hyped. This is not one of those times. I cannot say enough positive things about this product. I'll probably write a comparison blog, but I may like this product more than Kat Von D's everlasting liquid lipstick . (Shocking, I know). To begin with, this product is super long lasting . You can put it on at the beginning of the day and it will be there at the end of the day -- unless you wipe it off, of course. Not to mention that it doesn't feather at all! However, it isn't completely transfer proof . If you're eating or drinking, you will get lipstick on your food/silverware,

Reviews: Everlasting Liquid Lipstick by Kat Von D

I think the name of this product should be changed from Everlasting Liquid Lipstick to Bulletproof Liquid Lipstick, because it's actually bulletproof. I've been looking forward to trying this product for a long time and it did not disappoint me. Like, I believe this product could survive a nuclear explosion. Needless to say, after that introduction, this is a great product. First of all, it lasts forever . It stands up to eating, drinking, and just about everything else. You can put it on your lips at 8 AM and it will still be in place at 8 PM. Unless you purposefully rub and scrub it off, it's not going anywhere. Not to mention that it's very pigmented . I suppose it's not the most pigmented lip product I've ever encountered, but it's up there. My only complaint is that I'm not the biggest fan of the shade selection ; to me there seems to be a very limited selection of reds and too many nude shades. However, I have it in the shade Lolita II , whi

PSA: Get Your Eyebrows Threaded

So, I know I'm a little behind on this trend, but I've recently discovered how amazing eyebrow threading is and I would like to talk about it. If you've never had your eyebrows threaded, you should run -- not walk -- to the nearest threading salon and have it done. Like, you need to get your brows threaded today yesterday -- that's how good it is. I guarantee that your eyebrows will never look better; you will have the best of all possible eyebrows. And, if you've had your eyebrows threaded, you know that what I'm saying is true. When threading first became popular, I sort of dismissed it. I thought it would be basically the same as waxing. But it's not like waxing, it's much better than waxing. It doesn't hurt as much as waxing, it's more precise, and it gives your brows a better shape . Don't let anyone tell you that threading hurts, because it doesn't hurt at all. It does have a sort of weird, tingly sensation though, and, if you

Ulta 21 Days of Beauty Product Reivews

Image
So, as many of you probably know, Ulta's 21 Days of Beauty starts today . The 21 days of beauty is a sale event during which Ulta marks down particular popular products ( you can see everything on sale here ). Needless to say, it's my favorite time of the year. As I was looking through this years' sale items, I noticed that I already own quite a few of these products. So, as you consider whether or not you want to indulge in the 21 Days of Beauty, I thought I would write some mini reviews of sale items that I already own. Merry 21 Days of Beauty! Loose Eyeshadow by BareMinerals (on sale for $7.50) : This year for Christmas I received a bunch of these single, loose eyeshadows from a friend. I have to say that I was very impressed with the quality. They are super pigmented, very creamy, and -- for the price -- you get a ton of product. They also have a beautiful selection of colors. However, since they are loose eyeshadows, they are a little more difficult to apply. If y

Reviews: Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip

Image
So, a couple of weeks ago, Colourpop released a new line of lip products: Ultra Satin Lip , which is a satin, non-matte liquid lipstick. Anyway, I was super excited  to try this product after I saw KathleenLight's swatch video , so I ordered one as soon as it was released. I've been testing it out since then and I wanted to give you my thoughts. First of all, as you know, I have somewhat mixed thoughts about Colourpop as a brand . Some of their products are amazing, some are just okay, and some are really disappointing. This product is pretty good, but it didn't quite meet my expectations given my experience with Colourpop's Ultra Matte Lip. Hand's down, the biggest problem Colourpop has as a brand is that it's really difficult to pick a shade from their online images. Every Colourpop product I have ever owned has either been darker or lighter in shade than it looked online. In this case, I purchased the Ultra Satin Lip in the shade Too Lips and i

Reviews: MAC Foiled Shadow

MAC Faerie Whispers Collection So, today I'm super excited to be reviewing the new (somewhat) MAC foiled eyeshadow. I've been eyeing this product since it came out and I finally bought it a couple of weeks ago and I've been testing it out ever since. This eyeshadow comes from the MAC Faerie Whispers collection , which, I believe is limited edition. This collection is super cute and girly with a lot of light, shimmery feminine colors. Based on the reviews I've seen, the eyeshadows are the most popular items, although there are also lip and cheek items. Now, honestly, I've never disliked a MAC product and this is no exception. First off, the packaging and appearance are awesome. As you can see in the picture, the eyeshadow has a sort of wrinkled texture that looks a bit like crumpled tin foil, which I think is very unique and pretty. Also, I like that the top of the container is clear so that you can see the shade without opening it. Fly by Twilight Now
