Summer Declutter: 2019 Edition

Image
It probably won't surprise you to learn that my makeup collection is way out of hand. I mean, presumably you follow this blog, so you see the number of products that I try out on a month to month basis. So, in order to try to keep my makeup collection in check, I did a MAJOR declutter this month. And, when I say major, I mean MAJOR (for me, anyway). Let's jump in! Love in London Palette by BH Cosmetics - I reviewed this palette very recently , so I'm not going to go into too much detail about it. The point is, I'm probably not going to be using this palette any time soon, so I'm passing it along to a friend. 35F Fall into Frost Palette by Morphe - I used to really enjoy this palette ( you can read my review about it if you want ), but, these days, I rarely find myself reaching for big eyeshadow palettes.  It's just too overwhelming. So, I'm going to pass this palette along to one of my friends; I imagine she'll get more use out of it than I d

Review: Boom, Boom, Bloom Collection by MAC

Image
This MAC collection -- the Boom, Boom, Bloom Collection -- came out a while ago, but a lot of the products are still for sale (in fact, some items are discounted now), so I thought I would give you a review of the collection (or, at least, the parts that I bought). I picked up several items from this collection as soon as they were released, so I've had plenty of time to test them out (I'm really behind on my reviews). First of all, I should say that I've had my eye on this collection for a long time. I believe it was released in May, but it was announced in March or April, and I immediately knew that I was going to have to pick up at least one thing from the collection; the packaging was just too pretty to pass up! As you can probably tell, the Boom, Boom, Bloom Collection was inspired by cherry blossoms. Everything is super pretty and pink, and the packaging is decorated with pink petals on a white background infused with pink glitter. That sort of vibe is right up

Spring Empties

Image
It has been a MINUTE since I did an empties blog. So, as you can imagine, I have a small mountain of empties to share with you. So, grab a snack and settle in because this is gonna be a long one. I know it's technically summer now (although our weather is not super summer-y at the moment), but I'm going to call this Spring empties because I used up most of these things during the spring. So, let's dive in! Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly by MAC - MAC's Paint Pots are the only eyeshadow primers I use. I've used up a couple of these paint pots over the past few years, and they're far and away the best eyeshadow primers I've ever used. They give the eyeshadow a really good base to stick too, and they're very opaque, so they cover any texture or discoloration in your eyelids. It's a bit like using a concealer as an eye primer, but concealers always crease when I use them as eye primers, and the paint pot never creases on me. I already have a new

Review: Love in London Palette by BH Cosmetics

Image
Okay, I'm not gonna lie: BH Cosmetics kind of disappointed me with this palette . I picked it up because I really enjoyed their Royal Affair palette, which was released for holiday 2019. When I saw the Love in London palette, I thought to myself "if that's anything like the royal affair palette, I have to have it." Unfortunately, it wasn't really anything like the Royal Affair palette. However, before I get too far ahead of myself, let me tell you more about this palette. It comes with 16 shades and costs $16, which is a stellar deal if you ask me. It's available for sale on BH's website and Ulta.com, where it has excellent reviews, which is confusing to me because I find this palette to be very mediocre. With that being said, let's dive into the review. First of all, let's talk about the packaging. It's beautiful. In fact, if I'm honest with myself, I probably bought this palette for the packaging. As you can see in the photos, it

Review: Brown Sugar Palette by ColourPop

Image
Man, do I have a lot of ColourPop palette. I mean, I have a TON of ColourPop palettes. But, then again, ColourPop seems to release a new eyeshadow palette every couple of days, so it's petty easy to amass a giant ColourPop collection. Recently, I picked up the Brown Sugar palette by ColourPop. Now, it's not a new product by any stretch of the imagination, but it does seem to be a permanent part of their line now, so I thought I'd review it in case anyone was considering picking it up. First of all, I should tell you that this palette has nine shadows for $12, which is a great deal in my opinion . I really appreciate that ColourPop keeps things affordable. The only downside is that you have to buy most ColourPop products from their website, and you usually end up paying for shipping. There are some ColourPop products at Ulta, but I'm pretty sure this palette isn't one of those products. The nine shades are as follows (descriptions from ColourPop's webs

Review: PhotoReady Candid Natural Finish Anti-Pollution Foundation by Revlon

Image
A few months ago, I started hearing about Revlon's new Candid foundation on YouTube. A Revlon product hasn't disappointed me yet, so I decided to give their new foundation a try. I've been using it for about a month now, and I have some thoughts to share. First of all, I should say that this foundation costs $10.99 , which I think is very reasonable. It comes in 31 shades , which is a pretty good shade range for a drugstore brand. The shade range tilts pretty heavily toward light to medium shades, but they also have a few deep dark shades. Even though the shade range isn't perfect, I feel like it's much better than most other drugstore brands. I should also take a second to talk about the packaging. It comes in a squeeze bottle with a pump, which I'm not sure if I like. I find the packaging to be a little strange, but I can get past it. The tube itself is a nice light pink shade, which I enjoy; it looks lovely. Revlon describes the foundation as medium c

Review: I Am Magic Foundation by Juvia's Place

Image
Juvia's Place is a brand that has intrigued me for a while. I've kind of had my eye on them since the Masquerade Palette, but I never bought anything. When I saw that Juvia's Place had released a foundation and it was at Ulta, I thought "yes! This is the perfect way to try this brand." So, I picked it up right away. Right off the bat, I want to say that this foundation comes in 42 shades, which is excellent. It costs $20, which I think is a very reasonable price. Plus, the packaging is gorgeous ; it's a very pretty coral color. I also like it when foundations come in squeeze tubes, so this was really perfect packaging for me. Now, the foundation claims to have a soft matte finish, and that is more or less true. The finish is definitely matte, but I don't know if it's soft. On me, it looks very dry. It also gives VERY full coverage. Like, EXTREMELY full coverage. I did try it with a couple of different primers to see if that made a difference
