April Favorites: Recommendations

April was an odd month for me (In terms of weather and in terms of life). On some days, it was rainy and cold, and on some days it was super hot and sunny (and on some days it was both in the same day, unfortunately). I didn't quite know what to make of it. However, even though the weather was half winter and half summer, my makeup was Spring themed. This month, I gravitated towards light, fresh looking makeup -- just the right combination for Spring! Albatross by NARS   ($30) - So, I'm sure everyone has heard of this very popular product, but, I still want to talk about it. NARS markets this as a blush, but most people (including me) use it as a highlight. It's a gorgeous, sheer, golden illuminating highlight, and it's universally flattering. I typically use it on top of a pale pink or terra cotta blush. I've heard that it doesn't look so good on very pale people, but I'm very pale and it looks nice on me. However, I will tell you that it looks whitish

April: A Month of Nail Polish

So, I've decided to try a new sort of post this month. Recently, I've been really into nail polish and doing my nails. Actually, I don't think I left the same nail polish on for more than two or three days in a row this month. I wanted to talk about some of the nail looks I did this month, so I took a picture of every manicure I did this month (sans one horrible, glittery, gloopy mess that I couldn't bring myself to photograph) and now I'm going to write about. So, if you're bored by incessant chatter about nail polish, click away. But, honestly, who could possibly be bored by incessant chatter about nail polish. Please excuse my horrific cuticles; I am in desperate need of cuticle oil. Over the Moon by Butter London - This was my first manicure of the month. Obviously, this is a nice, basic warm grey. It's nice and neutral and professional. Plus, it's a Butter London shade, so it's completely and utterly chip proof. Like, you have to try to c

I Went on a Nail Polish Rampage: Haul & Reviews

Image
So, I have a story for you. A few months ago, during Christmas break, I went through my nail polish collection and gave away a bunch of colors I didn't wear anymore and threw away some really old bottles. When I was doing that, I got rid of a lot of glitter nail polish and a lot of bright colors because, I thought "let's be real, I'm not going to wear any of these things anymore." Guess who recently decided that they like glitter nail polish and bright colors? -_- Me -_- Anyway, I recently started to watch a lot of YouTube videos about nail polish and I got really excited about doing nails and, all of the sudden, I had to buy every nail polish in the world. I was like "oh no, I don't have any glitters! I don't have any holos! I only have three OPIs! I need to go buy everything!" So, basically I went on a nail polish binge -- or, as I like to call it, a nail polish rampage. I'm not proud of it, but my nails have been looking pretty aweso

What Ever Happened to Crackle Nail Polish?

Image
Me with Crackle Polish So here's a question for the beauty world: whatever happened to crackle nail polish? If you don't remember, crackle nail polish was a trend that was really popular circa 2009. Basically, you put a layer of it over another nail polish and then the crackle nail polish "cracks" into interesting patterns. I remember really liking this polish while I was in high school and then, sadly, my bottle dried up because I didn't screw the lid on tightly enough. Anyway, after that, I sort of forgot about it until I stumbled upon a picture of a manicure with crackle nail polish when I was looking at pictures of nail polish online (and yes, I do that quite often). I looked at the picture and was like "huh, I haven't seen crackle nail polish in a while" and proceeded to look it up. Well, I couldn't find it anywhere! I checked Ulta, Sephora, OPI, Sally Hansen, etc. I was actually really surprised. I mean, I was aware of the fact th
