Winter Favorites (November, December, & January): Recommendations

Image
I didn't write a favorites blog last month or the month before (I moved, got a new job, and was, in general, crazy busy), so you know what that means...EXTRA favorites this month. Please try to contain your excitement.  Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush in Candy Glow by Too Faced - I wrote a full review of this blush back in June. Long story short, I love this blush. It's soft and blendable and luminous and gorgeous. Lately, I've been pairing this blush with intense, holiday eye looks because it's such a subtle blush. It gives you just the perfect amount of color in the cheeks. Kathleen Lights Palette by Morphe - I am convinced that Kathleen Lights can do no wrong (as far as makeup is concerned, anyway), and this palette is proof. I find myself reaching for this palette almost every day. I particularly love the gorgeous mauve and red-toned shades, not to mention the gorgeous terracotta transition shades. This palette was sold out for a while, but I think it&

January Empties

Image
New year = new empties, and boy did I use up some products this month. Buckle up because I have a TON of empties to share with you this month! Coconut Oil by Nature's Promise - Let me be clear, coconut oil is the real MVP. I adore coconut oil. I use it in my hair, I use it on my face, and I use it to take off makeup. It's a perfect product! Plus, it smells FANTASTIC. You guys know me, I'm all coconut scent all the time; that's just how I roll. I've already repurchased this, plus, I have an extra back up jar. Sugar Crush Body Wash by Soap & Glory - I wrote about this product in a favorites blog a few months ago . I really liked this product; it's relatively inexpensive, smells great (lime citrus and sugar, yum!), and gets the job done. However, I find that I have to use a lot more of this body wash per shower than I do when I use Bath & Body Works body wash. I don't think it's as concentrated, if that makes sense. Because of that, I pr

Reviews: Selena Quintanilla Collection by MAC

Image
A few months ago, I, like Selena fans everywhere, went absolutlely crazy when I heard that MAC was going to release a Selena inspired collection. Like, I almost couldn't breathe; I was that excited. And, like Selena fans everywhere, I was super disappointed when the whole collection sold out in approximately five minutes. Luckily, MAC recently restocked the collection, and I was able to pick up a couple of things (honestly, I wanted to get everything, but, alas, I do not have an unlimited makeup budget). If you don't know,  Selena Quintanilla was a Tejano singer --actually, she was the Queen of Tejano music--who was popular in the 80s and 90s. She was a groundbreaking musician . She was one of the first Latino singers to gain mainstream popularity in the US and to have a successful crossover career as an English language singer. Not to mention that she was basically the first woman to become a popular Tejano singer (previously, Tejano music was dominated by men). Selena was t

Review: Bella Eyes Gel Powder Eyeshadow by Milani

Image
A few months ago, I saw a YouTuber swatch a bunch of the  Bella Eyes Gel Powder Eyeshadow by Milani on her channel during a collection video . It was love at first swatch. I got super excited about these shadows, and I instantly ran over to Wal-Mart and bought four: Bella Rouge, Bella Pink, Bella White, and Bella Copper . First of all, let me give you the stats. There are 31 singles shadows in this line (unfortunately, you can only buy them as singles; there's no palette), they cost $5 each , and you can buy them wherever Milani products are sold (Wal-Mart, CVS, etc.). Now, on to the important stuff: I am super impressed with these shadows. Bella Rouge True, the pigmentation varies a bit from shade to shade. For example, Bella Rouge is not as pigmented as Bella Copper. But, I kind of expected that. Red, purple, green, and blue shadows are usually not as pigmented as brown shadows, for instance. So, I understand why Bella Rouge is not as pigmented. What's good about

Review: Photo Focus Line by Wet n' Wild

Image
To the great delight of makeup lovers everywhere, Wet n' Wild recently released a line of new face products: the Photo Focus Line. The line includes a pressed powder, a setting spray, a liquid foundation, and a concealer. The second I saw it, I was like "done. have to have it. have to try it." So, I immediately picked up the foundation and the concealer. I haven't been able to get my hands on the powder or the setting spray yet, but, don't worry they can't hide from me forever! Anyway, let's get to the review!  I have mixed feelings about the Photo Focus Foundation . At first, I really hated this foundation. The first few times I used it, it applied really patchily (is that a word?) and unevenly, and it broke down really quickly. Eventually, I figured out that I needed to work with the foundation quickly to get even coverage . I apply some foundation to one part of my face, blend it in, and then move on to the next section. If you don't work

Disappointing Products of 2016 (Part 2)

Image
So, a few days ago, I published a blog called "Disappointing Products of 2016." Well, I thought that I had gotten all of my disappointment out of my system, but it turns out that I was wrong. A lot of cosmetic products have let me down this year, and you're going to hear about it (I mean, if you're interested or whatever). Fix+ by MAC - I know that this will sound sacrilegious to some people, but I don't love Fix+. In case you don't know, Fix+ is a setting spray by MAC and it's a cult classic. However, for me, it doesn't work very well as a setting spray. When I bought it, I knew that it wouldn't hold my makeup in place as well as Urban Decay's All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray. I understand that Fix+ is designed to give a more dewy, glowing look, rather than just holding your makeup in place. However, it doesn't do that for me. I feel like it doesn't do anything for my makeup. I'm going to use it up because it was fairly expe

Disappointing Products of 2016

Some people feel bad about criticizing beauty products they didn't like. I am not one of those people. Stay Matte Foundation by Rimmel London - I like to experiment with makeup, especially inexpensive makeup. Recently, I've been on a quest to find a really good drugstore foundation. This is not that foundation. This is an incredibly mediocre foundation. First of all, the coverage is not good. I mean, I suppose that some people prefer light coverage foundations; I'm not one of those people. If I wanted a light coverage foundation, I have my skin. Secondly, it starts to break up and crease around my chin and nose immediately. I'm going to try to use it up because I paid money for it, but I'm not happy about it. Bamboo Finishing Kabuki Brush by EcoTools - A few months ago, I decided that I needed some new face brushes because my kabuki brush was getting really old and shed like crazy. However, I didn't want to spend a ton of money on new brushes so I decid
