September Favorites: Reccomendations

Image
I can't believe we're already in September! It seems like just a few weeks ago we were starting Summer, and now we're already in Fall! I can't believe it! I'm definitely ready for Fall makeup though. I adore Fall makeup. Reds, oranges, and browns are just so much fun to create looks with. It may seem odd, but I just love using red eyeshadow. It's so stunning! Plus, cooler weather means less chance that you'll sweat off all your makeup before noon (my least favorite thing about summer). Anyway, let's get to the favorites: Fall into Frost Palette by Morphe - I wrote a complete review of this eyeshadow palette a few days ago. Long story short, I ADORE this palette. It has all the shades and shadows you need to create Fall looks. It has all sorts of reds, oranges, purples, and browns. I have so much fun playing with these colors and trying out different looks with them. Plus, these shadows are incredible pigmented, and they're very reasonably priced.

Review: Illumi-Naughty Highlighting and Concealing Pen by Wet n' Wild

Image
I'm writing this review for a specific friend (you know who you are, Kim) because she's considering buying this product -- the Illumi-Naughty Highlighting and Concealing Pen by Wet n' Wild -- and asked me what I thought of it. (Of course, if you're name isn't Kim, feel free to read this post as well). Originally, I bought this concealer from Wet n' Wild's website because KathleenLights talked about how much she liked it. Plus, I'm all about trying new concealers (as always). Basically this is an illuminating concealer in "pen" form. The applicator is a little brush that you can use to "paint" the concealer onto your face. Wet n' Wild describes it as " This 2-in-1 highlighting and concealing pen will help cover up those naughty areas and illuminate your best features! It's a lightweight, liquid pen that gives you the ultimate control to instantly lift your features for a flawless complexion ." It comes in three sha

August & September Nail Polish Favorites

Image
So, last month I didn't really have very many favorite nail polishes so, instead of writing a blog post about just one polish, I decided to cover both August and September in one post. I've been having a lot of issues with my nails lately; they've been peeling a lot and super brittle. Consequently, I'm trying not to change my polish as often so that I'm not constantly subjecting my nails to the stresses of nail polish remover. Unfortunately, it also means that I wasn't able to try out as many polishes this month as I would have liked to. I did have some favorites though: Mint Candy Apple by Essie - This was really my only favorite nail polish of August. It was such a busy month for me that I didn't really have as much time to play around with different polishes as I would have liked. However, this particular polish really stood out to me. As you can see in the picture, it is a gorgeous blueish green. In some lights, it looks like a Tiffany blue to me. A f

September Empties

Image
It's the end of the month once again, which means that it's time for empties. I have to confess that I find writing empties blogs to be strangely satisfying. Like, I'm oddly proud of myself for using up products. Is that weird? I don't know, but that's how I feel. Makeup Brush Cleanser (Rosewater Scent) by Japonesque ($14) - This is my go-to brush cleaner, and I go through it like water. I think I'm on my second or third bottle now, and I've already repurchased it. First of all, it gets my brushes clean, and, second of all, it smells absolutely amazing. I always buy the rosewater scent version, which smells so floral and pretty. Plus, the scent lingers for days afterwards. It's so nice to pick up a brush and have it smell like roses. What could be better than that? Non-Acetone Nail Polish Remover by Ulta ($2.49) - There's a lot of nail polish removers out there. In my experience, they're all more or less the same. However, I buy my make

Review: Holographic Stick in Supernova by Milk Makeup

Image
I've been wanting to try Milk Makeup forever. I'm really intrigued by the idea of a cosmetic brand that tries to make makeup application quicker and easier. I believe their tagline is "Milk girls do their makeup quick." I mean, I would like to do my makeup quick. I don't think that's going to happen, buti it's nice to dream. So, about a month ago, I decided to treat myself to Milk's Holographic Stick (which is basically a roll-on highlighter) in the shade Supernova (actually, I think that's the only shade it comes in). Gotta be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of this product . I was super excited to try this out because I love purple-toned highlights and this looked like a beautiful purple-toned highlight. True, this highlight is really pretty when you swatch it, but the formula is incredibly mediocre.   The Holographic Stick is a creme highlight,  but it's t he least creamy and least blendable creme highlight that I've ever

Reviews: Fall Into Frost Palette

Image
I've been dying to buy a Morphe palette forever, and this month I finally ordered one! I am now the proud owner of the Morphe Fall into Frost Palette (35F), and I think I might be in love.  It's absolutely gorgeous. GORGEOUS. I don't know why it took me so long to buy a this palette; I've barely even thought about my other palettes since I got it. First of all, I can't emphasis enough what a great value this palette is. It costs $22.99 and comes with 35 shades; that's less than a dollar per shadow (not including shipping). I don't want to exaggerate, but that is a STUPENDOUS deal . More importantly, however, the shadows have a great formula. They are all super, super pigmented. This is especially true of the shimmer shades; it's insane how glittery and pigmented and pretty they are. Like, they're almost too pigmented (I mean, if such a thing exists). One swipe on your eyelid = full pigmentation. There is no such thing as building these shadows

Reviews: TRIPLE-CHROME Liquid Lipstick by Ofra

Image
A few weeks ago, I got an email from Ofra announcing the launch of their duo and triple chrome liquid lipsticks...and I basically lost my mind. Like, I died when I saw these lipsticks. Died. I don't even know how I'm writing this blog right now because I should be dead. Seriously, this is definitely the coolest concept for a lip product that I've ever seen. I mean, why put just one color on your lips when you could have three? Three colors in one lipstick = absolute genius . So, the second I saw these lipsticks I was like "this is non-negotiable; I have to have this" and I ordered one right away. I purchased my TRIPLE-CHROME (let me just repeat that: triple-chrome, as in THREE COLORS) liquid lipstick in the shade Fantasia , which is red, purple, and blue (in one lipstick!!!!).  I'm inserting a video of myself wearing the lipstick and moving my head so that you can see the color shift. Anyway, it came about a week ago, and the first thing I thought

Pacifica: First Impressions Fridays

Image
Whew! It's Friday again. I don't know about the rest of you, but it's been a long week for me. Anyway, it's finally the weekend, which means that it's time for another First Impressions Friday! This week, it's the Pacifica edition. Pacifica is a brand that I've meaning to try out for a long time. I once got a random Pacifica lipstick from ipsy, and I've been wanting to experiment with the brand ever since. I n case you're unfamiliar with the brand, Pacifica is a 100% vegan and cruelty free brand that produces makeup, nail polish, skin care products, and hair products . In terms of price, Pacifica is fairly middle of the road . They're not super expensive, but their not a budget brand either. However, Ulta seems to have sales on Pacifica products fairly regularly. I bought most of my Pacifica products for buy one get one 50% off; so, if you're interested in trying out this brand, you should watch for Ulta sales . Anyway, I really appreci

Reviews: Fortune Favors the Brave Palette by Makeup Revolution

Image
"Fortune favors the brave" is a common translation of a Roman proverb. It's also the name of a very versatile and beautiful eyeshadow palette by Makeup Revolution . I bought this palette on a whim about a month and a half ago from Ulta. I'm not sure if it's new, if it's permanent, or if it's limited edition. However, I can give you a review of it, in case you're interested in picking it up. The palette comes with 30 shades (13 matte shades and 17 shimmer shades) and an eyeshadow brush (although the brush isn't very good quality, and I would recommend using your own eyeshadow brushes). You can buy the palette from Ulta.com and Makeup Revolution's website. In case you're unfamiliar with Makeup Revolution, it's a British cosmetic brand that makes low-cost, affordable makeup. I'm a big believer in the quality of Makeup Revolution products. In my experience, Makeup Revolution delivers great value for your money, and this palette seem

e.l.f.: First Impressions Fridays

Image
This week, I want to give you my first impressions of the cosmetic brand e.l.f. Obviously, most people who are familiar with makeup have heard of e.l.f., and the brand has definitely been on my radar for a while. But, for some reason or another, I've never really bought any e.l.f. products. I think I bought some of their $1 brushes and powder while I was in high school, but I didn't like them very much, and I didn't know enough about makeup at the time to be aware of the brand and how it compares to other brands. Anyway, I bought some e.l.f. products from Ulta recently (because Ulta now sells e.l.f., which is one small step for man and one giant step for makeup kind), and I want to give you my impressions of them. Mineral Infused Face Primer in Brightening Lavender ($6) - I needed a new primer, so I decided to pick up this product. e.l.f. says that this primer was "developed to combat against excess oil, flaky dryness, enlarged pores and fine lines, this clear multi
