Ulta 21 Days of Beauty Product Reivews
So, as many of you probably know, Ulta's 21 Days of Beauty starts today. The 21 days of beauty is a sale event during which Ulta marks down particular popular products (you can see everything on sale here). Needless to say, it's my favorite time of the year. As I was looking through this years' sale items, I noticed that I already own quite a few of these products. So, as you consider whether or not you want to indulge in the 21 Days of Beauty, I thought I would write some mini reviews of sale items that I already own. Merry 21 Days of Beauty!
Loose Eyeshadow by BareMinerals (on sale for $7.50): This year for Christmas I received a bunch of these single, loose eyeshadows from a friend. I have to say that I was very impressed with the quality. They are super pigmented, very creamy, and -- for the price -- you get a ton of product. They also have a beautiful selection of colors. However, since they are loose eyeshadows, they are a little more difficult to apply. If you get too much product on your brush, you will get a lot of fallout, especially with dark colors. That being said, if you're willing to work with the product, it's a great buy. Final rating: 8/10
Nail Lacquer & Patent Shine 10X Nail Lacquer by Butter London (on sale for $10): As I've written before, Butter London nail polishes are always a good buy. They have a gorgeous selection of colors and they are very chip resistant. Plus, for a high end nail polish, $10 is a ridiculously good price. The original Butter London nail lacquer is my go to nail polish, but, unbelievably, the 10X nail lacquer is even better. Hands down, there's no way to go wrong with this product. Final rating: 10/10
Airbrush All-Over Shadow Brush (#119) by It Brushes for Ulta (on sale for $7): In general, It brushes are FANTASTIC, and this one is no exception. I bought this brush during the 21 Days of Beauty this last year, and it's been a staple for me ever since. I use it as a blending brush for my eyeshadow, but I think it would work just as well as an all-over lid brush. The bristles are super soft, it doesn't shed at all, and washing it doesn't effect the quality at all. If you're looking to invest in some good quality eye brushes, this is definitely a good place to start. Final rating: 10/10
Baked Blush-n-Brighten by Laura Geller (on sale for $15): I really want to love Laura Geller products, but, honestly, I'm consistently disappointed with them. It's not that they're bad products, but they are drugstore quality for high end prices. I only have one of the Baked Blush-n-Brighten blushes; it's nice, but it didn't impress me. The color selection is okay, but, to my mind, the shades aren't very unique (they all seem to be quite pink). In terms of quality, it's fairly pigmented and fairly long lasting, but it just doesn't do anything extra for your face (and it doesn't blend well at all). Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad blush -- there are just plenty of better blushes for the price. All in all, this is an pretty good blush, but, even on sale, it's way over priced. Final rating: 7/10
Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner by Stila (on sale for $11): This is another product that disappointed me. I own this eye liner in two shades, and they are both extremely underwhelming. Although the liners will swatch nicely on your hand, they are less creamy and less pigmented on the eye. Although this liner is okay on the eyelid, it's a disaster in the waterline. Even though it is billed as waterproof, it will migrate from the waterline to your lower lashes very quickly. It does not stay put at all! Plus, even though it is pigmented when you swatch it, you have to push very hard in order to get the same pigmentation on the eye. Overall, it is a pain to work with and apply. The only benefit is that it is available in just about every color known to man. However, if you ask me, you are far better off buying a Rimmel eye pencil for $6 or $7. Final rating: 4/10
All Over Face Color or Blush by BareMinerals (on sale for $10-$10.50): As always, BareMinerals delivers great products. Their blushes are super pigmented, soft, and gorgeous. Plus, for the price, you get a ton of product. However, they are loose powders, which can be a little more difficult to apply. My advice is to start with a small amount of product and build it up slowly. Regardless, it's a gorgeous, high end blush that's well worth the price. Final rating: 10/10
