Christmas Haul & Product Reviews
Happy holidays! I hope everyone is taking some time off today to spend time with family and friends. Today, I want to show you a couple of products with you that I've acquired during this holiday season.
Patent Shine 10X Lacquer by Butter London ($18): I've been wanting to try this product for a long time and I finally got a chance when I found it under the tree this Christmas! I have other Butter London polishes and love them all, so I was expecting only good things from this product. I've only been wearing it for a couple of hours, but I can already tell that it's going to be long lasting and chip resistant. Going on, the polish just felt so deliciously thick and creamy! I'm really excited to see how it holds up over the next few days. Plus, Butter London polishes are always true to color and cover easily and evenly. I have it in the shade Jolly Good, which is a bright coral -- definitely a shade I'll be getting a lot of use out of during the spring and summer!
Lipstick by M.A.C. ($17): This Christmas, I took advantage of M.A.C.'s free shipping to treat myself to a new M.A.C. lipstick. Hand's down, M.A.C.'s lipsticks are the best I have ever owned. If you truly want a lipstick that stays all day and doesn't need to be re-applied, M.A.C. is your best bet. Plus, they have approximately a billion shades, so there's definitely one out there for you. This Christmas, I purchased the shade Del Rio, which is a purple-y, reddish brown. I have been obsessed with brown toned lipsticks lately -- which are a great look for both fall and winter -- so I was super excited to find this color. Like all M.A.C. lipsticks, it is super pigmented, creamy, and -- best of all -- it has a delicious vanilla scent. The only draw back to M.A.C. is that it's nearly impossible to find their products outside of M.A.C. stores or online. If you're going to buy lipstick online, I highly recommend that you do your research. Be sure to read the description of the color carefully and search for images of swatches online.
Chocolate Bar Eye Shadow Collection by Too Faced ($49): This was another treasure I found under the Christmas tree. I've been playing around with this palette for a day or so and I can already sense that I'm going to get a lot of use out of it. As the name suggests, there are a bunch of gorgeous browns and tans that will be great for every day looks. (So far, Marzipan, which is a lovely tan shimmer shade, is my favorite shadow.) There are also a couple of gorgeous dark purple and red shadows that could be used for more dramatic, night-time looks. All in all, there's a nice mix of color and texture. There are six matte shades and ten shimmer shades (although some have bigger pieces of glitter than others) -- and all sixteen shades smell like chocolate, so you can't go wrong there. I'll eventually do a full review of this palette, but, I'm confident you could achieve any sort of look you wanted with this palette. Plus, as with most Too Faced palettes, it comes with a little booklet of instructions for different looks, which is a good starting point if you're new to eye makeup. Also, as is typical for Too Faced, the packaging is metal, which means it should be very easy to travel with.
I hope you all had a merry (and beauty-filled) holiday season!
