July Favorites: Recommendations
The summer is flying by! I can't believe July is already over. The next time I blink, summer will be over. But, for now, there's still time to rock beautiful, summer makeup looks (and to attend Game of Thrones viewing parties, but there's not a lot of makeup in that show, so I guess it's not really relevant).
B.A.E. Illuminating Face Primer by Lottie London ($9.99) - Ulta recently started selling a new, British cosmetic brand called Lottie London. As you can imagine, I get super excited whenever Ulta starts carrying a new brand, so I immediately went on Ulta's website to see what Lottie London was all about. A lot of their products interested me, but I was particularly intrigued by the B.A.E. Illuminating Face Primer. I had just run out of my Wet n' Wild primer, so I decided to pick it up and try it out. Now, as I've said before, there aren't many primers that I don't like. Most primers work pretty well for me, but this one is especially good. I love illuminating primers in general, and this one gives me such a nice, pretty, lit-from-within look. It's a great product, especially for the price. (Plus, I think the name is really cute).
Naked Heat Palette by Urban Decay ($54) - I wrote a full review of the Naked Heat Palette, so I'll give you the spark notes version: this palette is bomb. It's a beautiful, warm neutral palette with a gorgeous, red-toned color scheme. If you know me, you know I love red-toned eyeshadows, so, as you can imagine, this palette is right up my alley. The best part of this palette though is the formula. The shadows are so buttery, so pigmented, and so blendable. If you love warm neutral looks, this is the palette for you.
Color Impact Satin Lip Crayon in Zuma by Fiona Stiles ($16) - About a month ago, I bought a bunch of Fiona Stiles products while they were on sale at Ulta. I liked a lot of the products I picked up, but the Color Impact Satin Lip Crayon in the shade Zuma. First of all, the Satin Lip Crayons have a beautiful formula. They're super creamy and compfortable on the lips, and they have just the right amount of pigmentation. They're pigmented enough to show up on the lips, but sheer enough to be subtle and fade naturally. They're the perfect lip product for those days when you want something more comfortable than a liquid lipstick, but you also want something that won't get messy when you eat and will be easy to reapply. Zuma, my favorite shade, is a beautiful, pink-toned brown, and it's been my favorite lip product to weat to work for the past month.
Cotton Comforting Facial Wipes by Yes To ($5.99) - As you all know, I absolutely love the Coconut Cleansing Wipes by Yes To. However, I hadn't tried any of Yes To's other wipes until I heard Jkissa talking about the Cotton Comforting Facial Wipes. She said that they were way better than the coconut wipes, so, of course, I had to try them. At first, I was skeptical that anything could be better than the Coconut Wipes, but I have to say that Jkissa may be right. These are really, really good makeup remover wipes. They're a little more moist than the coconut wipes, which makes it a bit easier to take makeup off. I'm not crazy about the scent--it's sort of a weird, salty cucumber scent or something--but I can live with it. However, according to the reviews on Ulta's website, these are not good for sensitive skin, so be sure to keep that in mind if you're interested in picking these up.
