Colour Pop Haul & Product Reviews

I recently bought a bunch of products from the brand ColourPop (note that color is spelled with a U -- very posh). I've been dying to try ColourPop ever since I heard about it from a friend and I finally got a chance to this past month. I've been using these products for a couple of weeks now, so I have've had a chance to really get to know the products and I would like to share some of my observations with you!

Highlighter ($8): This is definitely the best product I've gotten from ColourPop thus far! I've used it literally every day since purchasing it and I've already hit pan! These highlighters are simply gorgeous! I suppose it would be best to say that this is a creme highlighter. The texture is very silky and soft and creamy and difficult to describe. It's super light and soft on the skin and it covers beautifully. It's very easy to apply and it has a sheer, dewy finish on the skin. Unlike other ColourPop products that look dry on the skin (like a powder), this product makes your skin look wet and dewy. I have this highlighter in Hippo, which is a gorgeous sheer violet. I was a little concerned that it would look odd, considering how pale I am, but I think it would look lovely on any skin tone. I also purchased the highlighter in Monster for one of my friends, and she loves it too! It's a gorgeous pale pink. Final rating: 10/10

Ultra Matte Lip ($6): This is one of the best liquid lipsticks I've ever used (it may even be better than Meet Matt(e) Hughes -- gasp!). It's super, super pigmented and it lasts FOREVER. In fact, it's so hard to get off, that I've used makeup remover on occasion. It covers well and holds up well, however, I will say that it's very drying (which is typical of matte lipsticks). However, if you don't mind that, this is a good, low cost liquid lipstick. I have it in Bad Habit, which is a deep, reddish brown berry tone. It's a lovely color, but, BEWARE, it will get on everything you eat/drink. I've seen people on YouTube say that it doesn't transfer at all, but, in my experience, that's not really true. All the same, it holds up very well and it comes in a gorgeous variety of shades. Final rating: 8/10

Blush ($8): This is definitely one of the most pigmented blushes I own. A little of this product really goes a long way; a few small dabs were enough to give my cheeks bright a pop of color. That being said, the texture of this blush wasn't ideal for me. This is basically a creme blush, however, it's not really cream. The texture is almost like Play- Doh (but in the best possible way); it's a little spongy for sure. I know that a lot of people rave about ColourPop products for this reason, but it doesn't work for me -- especially after I got used to using the highlighter. So, it's a little tough to apply. You really have to practice to get it exactly right. That being said, once it's on your face it looks very nice. Unlike the highlighter, it looks dry after application -- as if it was a powder blush. Plus, it's REALLY long lasting. My friend daubed a little on her hand and it was still there the next day! Final rating: 6/10

Lippie Stix ($5): I was quite disappointed with this product. Given the great reviews on ColourPop's website, I expected this to be super long-lasting and pigmented. The pigmentation was okay, but it was not long lasting at all and it didn't cover very well. Overall, it was just mediocre. I showed it to one of my friends and she said that it seemed like a pigmented chapstick. I would say that that's pretty accurate. It feathers and it won't hold up to eating or drinking. Final rating: 2/10

Super Shock Shadow ($5): Like the Lippie Stix, I found this product to be massively overrated. Perhaps it was the shade I purchased (I bought it in Acorn), but it wasn't pigmented at all. Like, I said, this might be because of the shade, however, I didn't like the texture either. Like, the blush, it has sort of a Play-Doh texture, which is a little tough to work with -- especially on eyelids, as their so small. Also, it didn't cover very well at all, so it requires a lot of product to build up the color and have an even look. All in all, it's quite mediocre. Final rating: 4/10
