August Favorites: Recommendations

Image
Today, I was actually cold when I walked outside. Cold! I guess that means that summer is officially over. I had a busy, but fun, summer. August in particular was a super chaotic month for me! It was my birthday month, so I had a lot of social commitments; plus, I moved. As a result, I haven't had too much time to test out a ton of new makeup. With that being said, I do have a couple of favorites this month that I want to share with you. Lasting Perfection Concealer by Collection - If you watch any makeup YouTubers, you've probably heard of this concealer. However, if you haven't landed on planet makeup yet and you haven't heard of it, Collection is a British brand that makes affordable cosmetic products. They're probably most famous for this concealer (rightly so). I finally got a chance to try it when one of my friends went to England this summer. I asked her to bring me back a few British makeup products, and this was one of them. This is amazing concealer; i...

August Empties

Image
One of my favorite things to watch on YouTube is empties videos. In case you don't know, an empties video is a video in which beauty YouTubers talk about the products they used up that month and whether or not they would repurchase them. I don't know if it's weird or not, but I really like seeing the products that YouTubers like enough to use up (although, they don't always like the products they use up). Considering the amount of products that beauty YouTubers buy and receive, I think it's really amazing that they use up any products at all. Plus, I always like to see which products people would repurchase. Because I really like watching empties videos, I've decided to do something different this month and write a post about the products I used up this month. Cocoa Butter by The Body Shop ($19.90) - I use up lotions and body butters like they're water. I always have a lotion in my purse and one or two on my night stand. This month, I used up a 6.75 Co...

Birthday Haul!

Image
So, I have a friend who jokingly says that she celebrates her birthday for the entire month of July. August is my birthday month, and even though I don't celebrate for anywhere near a month, I did feel like every day was my birthday this month because the makeup fairy kept visiting my house and blessed me with a fantastic birthday makeup haul! Not only did I get makeup (and nail polish) as birthday presents, I also got the standard Ulta and Sephora birthday gifts, and the Ulta platinum gifts. Plus, I got extra points on my Ulta purchases during my birthday month. Obviously, I am winning with my makeup collection this month; I literally can't imagine anything better. Mint Candy Apple by Essie - One of my friends gave me this product as an early birthday gift a few weeks ago. If you're familiar with Essie polishes, you know that Mint Candy Apple is something of a classic. It's a super pretty mint green, turquoise polish (if that even makes sense). To me, it's alm...

Yes To: First Impressions Fridays

Image
Whenever I get to Friday, I feel like I just barely managed to crawl over the finish line of some epic, cosmic marathon. I would continue with that metaphor, but I don't really know enough about running to make it sound convincing. Long story short: It's Friday, and I'm happy. Anyway, this Friday, I want to give you some of my first impressions about a new brand I'm trying out (just to clarify, I mean "new" to me, not "new" to the earth). The brand is called Yes To and they make mostly skin care and cleansing products. My roommate uses some of their products, and she suggested them to me, so I ordered a few of their products from Ulta.com . I was really excited to try  them because, according to their website, all of their products are 100% free of toxic ingredients and 95% natural , which I always appreciate. I don't always buy all natural products (which is obvious if you read my blog), but I think it's nice to get them if you have the ...

Drugstore Haul & Mini Reviews

Image
Lately, I've been trying to buy more "drugstore" beauty products because, obviously, they're cheaper, and I know that many of you will be more likely to try them out. I've collected a significant number of new, drugstore products, so I thought I would do a mini-haul for you. If you don't know, a "drugstore" product is usually a beauty product that can be purchased at stores like Wal-Mart, CVS, Wallgreens, Target, or the grocery store for a relatively inexpensive price. Drugstore brands usually vary in avalibility depending on where you live; however, you can typically find most drugstore products online as well. In my case, I bought all the products I'm going to discuss from Wal-Mart, Ulta (which sells a bunch of drugstore brands), and Wet n' Wild's website. Baked Blush   by Milani ($8.50) - If you live on Planet Makeup at all, you've definitely heard the hype around Milani blushes, specifically Luminoso . Well, folks, I'm here...

KathleenLights X Colourpop Product Reviews: Alyssa, Mr. Bing, & Point Zero

Image
If you know me at all, you'll probably be able to guess that I *died* with excitement when KathleenLights announced her new collab with Colourpop a few weeks ago. Of course, I immediately rushed to Colourpop's website and bought three out of her four new products -- you know, as any logical person would do. I've been using these products for a while now, so I wanted to give you some mini reviews! Point Zero - I go crazy for brown lipstick, so, when I saw this, I was super excited. All three of the lip shades in this collection are Colourpop's Ultra Satin formula , which, as I have written before, is a really good formula. All the Satins are super creamy, apply well, and aren't drying. However, they aren't transfer proof, so they can be a little messy! Point Zero in particular has the normal Satin formula, so its very easy and comfortable to wear. As I said above, it's cool-toned and very, very brown. There's no disguising the fact that this is brown...
