August Favorites: Recommendations
Today, I was actually cold when I walked outside. Cold! I guess that means that summer is officially over. I had a busy, but fun, summer. August in particular was a super chaotic month for me! It was my birthday month, so I had a lot of social commitments; plus, I moved. As a result, I haven't had too much time to test out a ton of new makeup. With that being said, I do have a couple of favorites this month that I want to share with you.
Lasting Perfection Concealer by Collection - If you watch any makeup YouTubers, you've probably heard of this concealer. However, if you haven't landed on planet makeup yet and you haven't heard of it, Collection is a British brand that makes affordable cosmetic products. They're probably most famous for this concealer (rightly so). I finally got a chance to try it when one of my friends went to England this summer. I asked her to bring me back a few British makeup products, and this was one of them. This is amazing concealer; it's blendable, creamy, full coverage, and super, super cheap. It never looks cakey, and it makes your skin look amazing. Plus, like I said, it's very affordable. It costs about 4 pounds, which is about $5.50. True, you do have to buy it online if you live in the US, but it's definitely worth paying for the shipping for this awesome concealer.
All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray by Urban Decay - I recently got a sample size of this product from Ulta, tried it, and loved it. I never used to wear setting spray because my makeup stayed on fine without it, and I didn't want to fix what wasn't broken. Naively, I thought that there was no way my makeup could stay on better than it already did. If you don't know, a setting spray is something you apply to your face after doing your makeup to make your makeup stay on longer and look better. However, after trying this setting spray, I can confidently say that your makeup will, in fact, stay on longer. Like I said, I'm sort of a setting spray novice, so there may be -- and probably are -- better setting sprays out there. However, for me, this spray works well.
Coconut Cleansing Wipes by Yes To - I wrote about this product a couple of weeks ago in my Yes To first impressions blog. In that blog, I said that these makeup remover wipes might be my new favorite wipes ever. Well, it might be too soon to say in that regard (I do love my Glacial Cleansing Cloths by Skyn Iceland); however, they were definitely my favorite wipes this month. Like I said in my initial blog post, these wipes smell amazing, they're very gentle, they're not too moist and not too dry, and they cleanse your face. Plus, they're fairly inexpensive (which Skyn Iceland does not have going for them). A thirty pack of these wipes is $5.99, whereas a thirty pack of the Skyn Iceland wipes is $15. So, for the price, this is definitely an amazing product.
Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner by Marc Jacobs - I got a sample size of this eyeliner from Sephora for my birthday. I already wrote about it in my Birthday Haul blog, but, to reiterate, this is an AMAZING eyeliner (I mean, it is Marc Jacobs, so I wouldn't expect any less). It's super pigmented, super creamy, applies smoothly, long lasting, and doesn't move throughout the entire day. Plus, it does't get on my contact lens, which is super important for me. The only downside is that the full size liners are $25 each, which is much more than I'm usually willing to pay for eyeliner. However, if money is no object for you and you're looking for a new and amazing eyeliner, I highly recommend picking up this liner (and I'm very jealous).
