August & September Favorites

Guys. It's been a long couple of months. I've moved, gone to a conference for work, and battled a killer cold. But, through it all, I've been wearing makeup. I don't really have a ton of new favorites (even though I've been on a huge makeup buying binge lately). I just feel like this transition period is really tough for me in terms of makeup. I want to create fall looks and wear sweaters and light candles, but it's too hot outside for any of that. At the same time, I feel like it's too late in the year for Summer makeup. It's awkward, ya know?

I just want it to be fall weather, so I can wear my fox sweater and do a cranberry eye. Is that too much to ask for?

Anyway, these are my favorites from the last two months:

Panda's Dream White Sleeping Pack by Tony Moly ($14.50) - First off, I want to talk about the cutest product I've come across in a long time. Seriously. The packaging on this night cream is EVERYTHING! True, it's a little bulky to travel with, but, come on, it's a PANDA. Did I mention this is adorable? Okay, rant over. More importantly, this is a good product. This is perfect as a night cream. It's very light, has a refreshing scent, and is super moisturizing. The first time I used this product, my skin felt like satin when I woke up. It was amazing. Plus, this product is alcohol free, which is a huge plus for me.

Acne Fighting Foundation by e.l.f. ($6) - I've come to the conclusion that--unless you have extreme skin concerns--no one really needs to spend money on high end foundations. Seriously, so many modern drugstore foundations are just as good or better than high end foundations in terms of quality. Take this foundation for example. I originally picked it up because I was intrigued by the idea of an acne fighting foundation. To be clear, I don't really have acne (so perhaps I'm not in the demographic for this foundation), but I do get the occasional pimple, so I thought I'd try this out. As it turns out, I absolutely love this foundation. It's medium to full coverage, has a satin finish, and is super long lasting (12 hours, easily). It applied beautifully to the skin without any patchiness, and I could add a second layer of product without disrupting the foundation underneath. I will say that this foundation doesn't have a very good shade range. It only comes in 7 shades, and, in fact, the lightest shade is a touch too dark for me. It also smells a bit like acne medication, which makes sense. However, the smell goes away once it's on your face. I don't think it really did anything for me in terms of acne, but I also don't really have acne, so take my opinion with a grain of salt in that regard. All in all, this is a great foundation, and you can't beat the price.

SuperStay Matte Ink Lip Color by Maybelline ($9.49) - So, I haven't had this product for very long, but I tried it recently, and I was SHOOK. SHOOKITH (or is it shooketh? I don't know?). This is the most long lasting liquid lipstick I have ever tried. It's amazing. Like, I'm wearing this liquid lipstick right now; I've had it on since 7AM, and it's now 8PM, and it looks almost exactly the same. Not to mention that it's 100% transfer proof. I mean, you have to scrub your lips with makeup remover in order to get this off. It's incredible. I picked this liquid lipstick up in two colors: Pioneer and Lover. Pioneer is a really bright, "true" red, and Lover is a purple-toned, deep pink. I really like both of these colors; although, I would love Maybelline to expand their shade range. The only thing I'm "eh" about with this lipstick is the texture. Even though this is a liquid lipstick, it doesn't really dry down completely. It has a bit of a sticky feel when you press your lips together (even though it doesn't transfer). I do notice that the stickiness decreases throughout the day, but, at first, the texture is a little weird, and it takes some getting used to. I'm also not crazy about the applicator; I find it a little difficult to use. Otherwise, I think this is an amazing product. I highly recommend.

BB Cream 8-in-1 SPF 15 (Light) by Wet n' Wild ($5.99) - I picked this BB Cream up a little while ago, but I didn't really have a chance to try it until July. I've been loving this BB Cream as a foundation mix in. It makes heavy, matte foundations a little lighter and more comfortable. A lot of matte foundations don't last very long on me because they're so dry that they start to crack and break up. This BB Cream gives them more wear time (for me and my dry-ish skin, anyway). It also wears nicely on its own, although it is very sheer. But, I mean, it is a BB Cream, so it's designed that way. Plus, you can't beat the price. I feel like Wet n' Wild is always coming to play with their value per dollar. I love it.

Anyway, those were some of my favorites in August and September! Let me know what your favorites were this month in the comments.
