Hey Now, You're an All Star: All Star Face Setting Spray by ColourPop Review
Apparently I've been buying a lot of stuff from ColourPop lately because I have yet another ColourPop product to review for you today.
I've never really been interested in trying a lot of different setting sprays, and I tend to stick with setting sprays that I know I like (basically, I use Fix + all the time). However, I do like to try new setting sprays from time to time, and ColourPop's All Star Setting Spray intrigued me.
When this product was released, I was immediately drawn to it. ColourPop is one of my favorite brands, so I always give their releases a second look. According to ColourPop, this setting spray is a "high performing setting spray that extends the wear of makeup by fighting oil and blurring pores with a weightless, micro-fine mist," which sounds great.
I'm always looking for inexpensive products that also work well, and this product sounded like it would be one of those, so I decided to pick it up. I've had it and been using it for about a month now, so I think it's time to review it.
To get right to the chase, I think this setting spray is perfectly fine. If I had to give it a grade, I would give it a B. It does extend the wear time of the makeup, but I don't think it does much so fight oil or blur pores. I haven't really seen any difference there. This spray can also make your makeup look a little cakey and heavy if you use too much of it. This setting spray also has an interesting smell; it smells a bit like sunscreen, which is strange but not unpleasant.
It is supposed to give makeup a matte finish, and I do think it does that. However, as the day goes on, you do start to lose that matte look. I was also not the biggest fan of mattifying sprays to begin with, so this product isn't really something that was designed for me. There are setting sprays that I like more. However, if you just want a basic, no frills setting spray, this is a pretty decent product, especially for the price.
This setting spray is really affordable. It's only $10, which is a great price, especially since you get 4 oz of product. As I said above, if you want a basic, everyday setting spray, this is a good value for the money.
I also think the packaging of the setting spray is really cute. I love the orange packaging and the star design on the box. I think the packaging is really attractive, and I'm very drawn to it visually. The only problem with the packaging is that the spray is not that good. The mist is supposed to be micro-fine, and it's really not. The spray does have some big droplets in it, but, overall, I think the packaging is fine.
Long story short, if you're on a budget and need a decent setting spray, you might want to look into this one.
Final rating: 6/10
