Disappointing Makeup Products: Fall 2019

It's been a while since I've written a disappointing products blog. However, a lot of products have disappointed me lately, and I want to talk about them. So, without further ado, let's jump into it!

Natural Face Palette by Too Faced - I picked this palette up during the recent Ulta 21 Days of Beauty sale. I was really excited to try it out because I heard a lot of people raving about it and recommending it in the lead up to the sale. I ended up getting it for 50% off, and I was really excited to try it out. However, after I used it a few times, I realized I have two problems with this palette: 1) the shades don't suit my skin tone and 2) I found the powders to be difficult to blend. They just looked a little patchy on my skin, and, for $44, those powders better blend beautifully. Now, that might just be a problem with the way the formula interacts with my skin type, but this palette just didn't work for me.

bareSkin Complete Coverage Serum Concealer by Bareminerals - Like the Too Faced palette, I picked up this foundation at the Ulta 21 Days of Beauty sale. I was really excited about it because the claims were so appealing and, in general, I'm very attracted to the idea of dewey concealers. However, I actually ended up returning it because this concealer just creased SO MUCH on me. It was a little insane. And, of course, the creasing meant that it broke down on my skin pretty quickly. So, at that point, why even bother putting concealer on?

Strawberry Shake Palette by ColourPop - I recently reviewed this palette on my YouTube channel, so I don't want to talk about it too much here. Suffice it to say that I was really disappointed by the color scheme in this palette. Online, it looked softer and rosier to me, and, in person, the shades are much brighter and pinker. The formula is fine, but this palette just wasn't what I was expecting it to be, and that disappointed me.

Flawless Brightening Foundation by Benefit - This foundation is on this list not because I hate it but because it's not worth the price Benefit is charging. This foundation retails for $30 a bottle, which is way too much for a foundation that is mediocre at best. It just doesn't look very good on my skin; it makes my skin look a bit textured and it doesn't cover well. Plus, it fades quickly around the nose, chin, and eyes. Fortunately, I bought a sample size, so I plan to use this foundation up by mixing it with others. However, I'm generally disappointed that I paid $15 for this foundation.

Moroccan Magic Palette by Ulta - I made a whole review of this eyeshadow palette on my YouTube channel, so I'm not going into too much detail. However, I will say that the formula of this palette just wasn't very good. The shades weren't pigmented and they didn't blend well. Plus, some of the shimmers just kind of fell off the lids. I ended up returning this palette because, in my opinion, it wasn't worth the money.

Dream Urban Cover Flawless Coverage Foundation by Maybelline - Here's the thing about this foundation: it is incredibly mediocre. It's not horrible, but it just doesn't look very good on my skin. It's hard to review complexion products because different things work for different people. However, this foundation just doesn't work well with my skin. It makes my skin look kind of textured and generally uneven. It also breaks down on my skin very quickly. I'm trying to use it up my mixing it with other foundations, but I just don't like it very much. If you have really dry skin, however, you might like this foundation because it is rather dewey.

Miss Manga Mascara by L'Oréal - I don't think you can get this mascara anymore, so I'm not sure why I'm talking about it. However, I do want to let it be known that this mascara is bad. It just didn't do anything for me. It didn't give me length, it didn't give me volume, NOTHING. Plus, it dried up really quickly. It's probably good that it's been discontinued.

It's My Pleasure Palette by ColourPop - Okay, so I was really excited about this palette when I got it, and, in some ways, I do like it. However, overall, this palette is just not my favorite. Now, some of this is because of ColourPop and some of this is because of me. In general, I do like ColourPop's shadow formula, but there are exceptions. I felt like the formula in this palette was a little harder to work with and harder to blend, which is often the case when it comes to colorful shadows. However, the biggest problem I have with this palette is that the color story just doesn't speak to me all that much. I just don't get excited to use it. There are so many other purple shadows in my collection that I like more. However, if you really love purple shadows, and you're looking for a low cost option, I would recommend this palette.

Just My Luck Palette by ColourPop - I have the same problems with the Just My Luck palette that I have with the It's My Pleasure palette. The formula is a little challenging to work with, but, overall, I'm just not inspired by this palette. Maybe it's just me, but I struggle to use this palette. I think green eyeshadow just isn't my thing. If you like green eyeshadow, however, you'll probably like this palette.

Let me know which products have disappointed you lately in the comments.
