June Favorites: Recommendations

I feel like there are only so many ways you can introduce a favorites blog. I mean, as much as I'd like to be creative with my favorites introductions, there's only so far you can go. You can't start out a favorites blog like: "aren't you annoyed by people with fidget spinners? Those things should be illegal on the subway. Anyway, these are my favorite products this month."

Anyway, these are my favorite products this month (see what I did there?).

Grindhouse Double Barrel Sharpener by Urban Decay ($10) - This is sort of weird, but one of my favorite products this month was my new pencil sharpener from Urban Decay. I picked up the Grindhouse Sharpener a few weeks ago after I finally got fed up with my Essence Duo Sharpener. I've come to the conclusion that pencil sharpeners are one of those products that you never appreciate until you get a really good one after you've had a bad one. It's so refreshing to finally own a sharpener that 1) actually collects the shavings and 2) doesn't spill them everywhere. Like, I feel like I can trust this sharpener not to make a mess all over my makeup bag, which is lovely. The main reason I got this sharpener, however, was to sharpen my "plastic-y" eye and lip pencils. I'm sure you guys know what I'm talking about: pencils like the Colourpop Lippie Pencil that have plastic-esque packaging that looks like a twist up pencil but isn't a twist up pencil. I always end up ruining these pencils when I try to sharpen them with a normal sharpener; and, if I don't sharpen them, they'll wear down and I obviously won't be able to use them. I will never understand why any brand would make a pencil like this. If you're making an eye or lip pencil, it should either be wood or a twist up. Period. The Grindhouse Sharpener, however, does a great job of sharpening these difficult pencils. I really believe that this sharpener can sharpen any pencil beautifully--no more, rough, jagged edges. I know that $10 is a lot to spend on a pencil sharpener, but it's seriously worth it.

Alyssa by Colourpop ($6) - I sort of forgot that I had this product. Actually, that's not true, I didn't forget that I had it; I forgot that I liked it. Alyssa is an Ultra Satin Lip from the Colourpop X Kathleenlights collab that came out two years ago? One year ago? I don't know. Anyway, this is a really soft pink with peach undertones. I've been really into these sorts of colors lately, and I'm so happy that I rediscovered this.

Citrus Brush Cleaner by Sephora ($11.50) - I picked this brush cleaner up a while ago during the Sephora VIB sale (since I go through brush cleaner like water). There are a lot of different products that you can use to clean your brushes, but I've been loving this one in particular because of the smell. Personally, I like my brushes to smell like something (I usually like something with a floral scent), and this brush cleaner has a lovely, fresh, bright smell. It's so refreshing in the morning to apply your makeup with something that smells like oranges.

Extra Sculpt Waterproof Mascara by Kiko ($14) - Normally, I'm more of less indifferent to mascara. It's a thing that I use everyday but not something that I often have strong feelings about. This mascara is different. I seriously feel like I'm wearing false lashes every time I wear it. If you want volume and length, this is the mascara for you. It makes your lashes look like a million bucks!

Anyway, that's basically it for my favorites this month. I know this was a super short post, but I wasn't really using a lot of new products this month, and I don't like to repeat products from month to month or just mention products in posts for the sake of having something to talk about. Anyway, those irritating people on public transportation, amiright??

Let me know what you were loving in June below.
