June: A Month of Nail Polish

Another month, another fifteen or so manicures to share with you.

Silver Dollar by Revlon and White On by Sally Hansen - I wrote a whole blog about this manicure, which was inspired by Jon Snow and House Stark from Game of Thrones. In case you don't know, I have a whole series of blogs about manicures inspired by Game of Thrones. I created this particular look using a gradient technique.

Silver Dollar and White On
Fearlessly Alice by OPI and White On by Sally Hansen - I tried to create a very summer-y, nautical inspired look with this manicure. I started out with two coats of White On by Sally Hansen, which is my go to white polish. Then, I used MoYou London's Sailor #1 stamping plate to stamp a starfish onto my accent nail with Fearlessly Alice by OPI (ignore the fact that it's crooked; stamping is still a work in progress for me). Then, I used my dotting tools to paint polka dots onto my other nails (also with Fearlessly Alice by OPI).

White On and Fearlessly Alice
All Hands on Deck by Essie - This polish is part of the Essie Shimmer Brights Collection 2016, which, if you ask me, really lives up to its name. It's very shimmery (as you can see) and very eye catching. It's a brilliant emerald green, with a blue-teal undertone, that looks amazing on the nails. The formula was a bit runny, but, other than that, it's a great polish.

My Voice is a Little Norse by OPI, Silver Dollar by Revlon, and Black Out by Sally Hansen - This is another Game of Thrones inspired nail look. I started off with Black Out by Sally Hansen and painted silver swords on top with Silver Dollar by Revlon. For the accent nail, I did a coat of Silver Dollar topped with My Voice is a Little Norse by OPI. I wrote an entire blog about this look if you want more details.

Nothing Burns Like the Cold by Illyrian Polish - I picked this polish up from color4nails.com; it's from their Game of Thrones inspired collection. The name comes from a quote from A Game of Thrones: "Nothing burns like the cold. But only for a while. Then it gets inside you and starts to fill you up, and after a while you don't have the strength to fight it” (George R.R. Martin). As you can see, it's a brilliant cerulean blue that's jam packed with blue and green glitter. In dim lighting, it doesn't look like much, but in direct sunlight it's gorgeous. However, the formula is very sheer. It's opaque in three coats.

My Vampire is Buff by OPI and My Sun and Stars by Illyrian Polish - My Sun and Stars is another polish that I picked up from color4nails.com from Illyrian Polish's Game of Thrones inspired collection. As you can see, My Sun and Stars is a clear base packed with metallic glitter. The glitter is all sorts of colors: gold, silver, rose gold, etc. You can get this opaque in three coats, but I just painted a thick layer over OPI's polish My Vampire is Buff. As you can see, My Vampire is Buff is a creamy off white, and it's one of my favorite OPI polishes.

Hunter by Zoya - This isn't a typical Spring/Summer color, but, I'm a big fan of greens, so I'm wearing it anyway. I don't know what it is, but, for some reason, I just love dark green nails. As you can see, Hunter is a deep, forest green -- or, if you prefer, spinach green, *blah spinach*. It has a really nice formula and, like all Zoya polishes, it's very chip resistant. It's opaque in two coats and it has a lovely, glossy finish.

Perceval by A England - As you know from previous blogs, I love A England. Their polishes all have great formulas and I have yet to see a shade that I don't like. This polish, as you can see, is a bright, shimmery red that really pops on the nail. It's a simple, elegent shade that looks good in everys situation. Plus, this shade is basically a one-coater; I did two coats here because I could see some brush strokes in the first coat, but it covered completely in one. Otherwise, it has a great formula.

Four Leaf Clover by China Glaze - I've definately written about this polish in the past; as you can see, it's a gorgeous, bright green. It's a great color for both spring and summer.  For my accent nail, I stamped a leaf pattern with MoYou London Tropical Plate 5. I was going to stamp all my nails, but I got lazy and decided not to.

Lickety-Split Lime by Sally Hansen, Snappy Sorbet by Sally Hansen, and Disco Ball by Sally Hansen - This is one of those manicures where you just try something and see what happens. To start off, I did a two color gradient with Lickety-Split Lime and Snappy Sorbet, which are bright, lime green and bright orange. Both colors are from the Insta-Dri line (which, for future reference, is not a good idea because it dries really quickly, which makes it difficult to build up the gradient). Over top of the gradient, I added a coat of Disco Ball, which is a translucent glitter, because why not. This was the result. I think it looks like an electric kiwi mango smoothie.

The I's Have It by OPI and Deep Ocean by MoYou London (Stamping Polish) - For this manicure, I just used two coats of The I's Have It by OPI, which is a powder blue polish from the OPI Alice in Wonderland Collection. I stamped a geometric design from the MoYou London Tropical Plate 5 with Deep Ocean, a stamping polish by MoYou London. As you've probably guessed, I've been trying to get into stamping lately, which is more difficult and more messy than you would imagine. Maybe I'll write a blog about nail stamping; let me know if you'd be interested in that.

Well, those are the manicures I created this month. Let me know if you liked them!
