Reviews: Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush by Too Faced

Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush
Today, I want to talk about another product that I picked up while I was on vacation: the Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush by Too Faced.

I believe this blush is part of Too Faced's line of new products for summer, although I don't know if it's permanent or not. However, right now all four shades are available basically everywhere (Sephora, Ulta, etc.). I bought mine in the shade Candy Glow, which, as you can see, is a mix of "rose pink shimmer, soft coral pink, and peachy pink shimmer" (according to Too Faced, that is). Candy Glow is the lightest shade in the collection, although all four blushes seem to be in the pink and coral color families -- which seems appropriate for summer blushes.

First off, I have to say that I think these blushes have a stellar formula. There's been a lot of buzz in the makeup world around the new Too Faced blushes, and, I have to say, I think it's well earned. These blushes remind me a lot of the Love Flush Long-Lasting blushes that they released last year (which are also good, by the way). They're super blendable, soft, creamy, luminous, and moderately pigmented. Plus, these blushes are super shimmery, which is perfect for achieving a warm, summer glow.

The packaging is also adorable! As you can see, they come in heart shaped boxes, which are super cute. However, the packaging is paper and there's no magnet or click closure, so I wouldn't recommend traveling with this product.

This blush does have a couple of drawbacks, however. First of all, if you don't like shimmer or glitter, this is not the blush for you. Although there is no chunky glitter in these blushes, they are designed to give you a shimmery, summer glow, so the shimmer will be apparent on the skin. If you don't like that, I suggest you purchase a matte blush instead.

Also, as I said, these are moderately pigmented blushes. Now, this probably seems like a drawback for a lot of people, but, for me, it's a positive. Although I like pigmented blushes a lot, Too Faced does a really good job of producing buildable blushes, which is nice for days when you want a more subtle, natural look. Also, glittery blushes (especially in shades like pink) can get too intense too quickly if they're super pigmented. These blushes make it super easy to control how shimmery and how dark your blush is, which is nice when you're trying to be subtle.

Plus, the moderate pigmentation means that you don't have to use the blush as a blush. Obviously, you can use this product as a blush, but Candy Glow is light enough to also use as a blush topper or a highlight. You could probably do this with the shade Peach Beach as well, although the other shades are probably a bit too dark to be used as a highlight (although they might work for someone with a deeper skin tone).  However, it's always nice to have multiple ways to use a product.

However, if you just want a bold, pigmented blush, this is not the product for you.

The price is also a drawback. Each of these blushes is $30, which is expensive considering that the Love Flush Long-Lasting blushes by Too Faced are bigger and cost only $26 each. Although, this is a high end blush and high end blushes are expensive, you can definitely find more cost effective alternatives out there (Clinique, Urban Decay, Lorac, etc.),

The bottom line is that this is a high quality blush that delivers a natural looking luminous glow, although it is a bit expensive.

Final rating: 8/10
