Reviews: Girls on Film Palette by Makeup Revolution
So, I recently received the Girls on Film Palette by Makeup Revolution from a friend as a graduation present, and I'm really impressed with it, so I want to talk about it.
First of all, in case you don't know, Makeup Revolution is a very affordable, British cosmetic brand that makes some nice, good quality products. I would consider it to be a high quality "drugstore" brand, even though it's not sold at the drugstore. If you live in the United States, Ulta is probably the most convenient retailer to buy this brand.
The Girls on Film Palette is an eye shadow palette full of both warm-toned and cool neutral shades. As you can see, it's chock full of shimmery bronzes, browns, and taupes, with a few pops of purple and silvery blue. Like I said, I'm very impressed with the quality of these shadows. They're creamy, pigmented, and blendable. Plus, there's a wide variety of shades, so you can create just about any look. This palette is particularly good for everyday looks, as there are lots of neutral, brown shades; it's very easy to put together a basic look without too much effort.
This palette was $10, which, obviously, is very affordable. For the price, the eyeshadows are good quality, so I think it's well worth the money.
In terms of the formula, the shadows are, as I said, fairly pigmented, creamy, and blendable. Some of the lighter shades are less pigmented, however, they build up easily. I will say, however, that the texture of the matte shades is different; they are a little more powdery and generate a little more "fall out." In terms of the shimmer shades, they are, as I said, very creamy. However, the glitter in the shimmer shades is a bit chunky. So, if you prefer a more subtle shimmer, this is probably not the best palette for you.
Honestly, my biggest complaint is about the packaging. The names of the eyeshadows aren't printed anywhere on the actual palette, so you have to read them off the box, which is very inconvenient. The actual palette itself is made out of hard plastic, which is nice to travel with. However, the latch on the packaging is really difficult to open. Which, honestly, is only a problem for me because I get concerned about messing up my nails. I've also noticed that the words printed on the outside of my palette rubbed off very quickly. I've had it for about a month and a half and the words are almost completely gone, which makes me upset because it makes it look cheap.
Final rating: 7.5/10
