July Favorites: Recommendations

July was a long, hot, busy month for me. Quite honestly, I was in a bit of a makeup rut; I didn't really try many new products, and I mostly stuck with looks that were safe and familiar for me. That was mostly because I find it really difficult to wear a lot of makeup when it's really hot outside, and July was a hot, hot month. However, I do have a couple of favorites to share with you.

Luminoso by Milani ($8.50) - A little while ago, I wrote about Luminoso by Milani in a haul blog. Luminoso is part of Milani's Baked Blush line, and it's a beautiful, beautiful blush. I had been meaning to buy it for months, and I finally got around to it in early July and wore it non-stop after that. Luminoso is a gorgeous peachy-pink with coral undertones and a slight shimmer. This blush gives you a gorgeous, summer glow, and it goes with almost any makeup look. It's super pigmented, blends well, and has a soft, creamy texture. Plus, as you can see, it's really inexpensive! It's also vegan, if that matters to you.

Secret Agent by Lorac ($17) - I am of the opinion that Lorac makes amazing lipsticks; they're just as good as MAC -- maybe better. Secret Agent -- which is from the Alter Ego line -- has always been one of my favorite lipsticks, but I had sort of forgotten about it for a while. This month, I really got back into it, and I found myself reaching for it almost every day this month. If you know me, you know that brown lipstick is my life, and Secret Agent is -- in my opinion -- the perfect brown. It's neutral enough to wear with almost any makeup look, but it also has a gorgeous plummy/ pink undertone that gives it something extra. I have a lot of brown lipsticks (and when I say a lot, I mean A LOT), and in my opinion, this lipstick is completely unique.

Boi-ing by Benefit ($20) - This is another product that I've been a fan of for a long time, and I always have it in my collection. Benefit describes Boi-ing as "industrial strength concealer." I don't know if it's truly industrial -- whatever that means, but it is great concealer. It blends well, doesn't move or crease, covers well, and lasts all day. But, most importantly, it has a super light, comfortable texture. It's not heavy or uncomfortable on the skin at all. Usually, I use it for blemishes, but recently I've been dabbing it under my eyes as well because I feel like my other concealers are just too heavy and thick for the summer. It is an expensive product, but its the sort of thing that lasts forever. I've been using this concealer consistently for almost two and a half years, and I think I've only had to repurchase twice. In case you're interested, I'm in the shade 01-Light.

Emery Board - Okay, so this is a really random favorite, but a few weeks ago, one of the supervisors at the tutoring center that I work at gave a bunch of these really cool emery boards to some of the writing tutors. As you can see, I got one, and I think it's one of the coolest things ever. My supervisor had been in vacation in New Mexico, so I think this emery board is supposed to look like a candy skull for the Day of the Dead. He brought in a bunch of colors, but I picked pink. I don't really have anything useful to say about this product. It's an emery board; you can use it to file your nails. I like that it has a lot of surface area, which makes it easier to file your nails. I don't know where you can buy it. I don't know how much it costs. I just know that it's cool.
