Reviews: The Brush Egg

The Brush Egg
So, last month I included The Brush Egg in my monthly favorites blog.  In case you don't know, the Brush Egg is a tool for cleaning makeup brushes and sponges. Even though I talked about it a bit in my blog last month, I wanted to give you a full review because I love this product so much. Seriously, nothing cleans my brushes as well as the Brush Egg, and it's really, really easy to use. I highly recommend this product to everyone who cleans their makeup brushes (which, I hope, is everyone) or anyone who wants a new brush cleaning routine.

First of all, let me give you some basic information. I bought my Brush Egg from Amazon; a couple of different companies/vendors sell it (or something like it), but they all seem to cost between $2 and $5, so it's very affordable. As you can see in the picture, it's a silicon glove. It's about four inches long and about three inches wide. It comes in a bunch of different colors, but I have mine in pink because -- fun fact -- everything I own is pink.

Anyway, like I said, this product is really easy to use. This is my brush cleaning routine with the brush egg:

The Brush Egg's Cleaning Surface
1) Dampen the brush you're going to clean, and spray or apply the cleansing shampoo or solid cleanser (or whatever else you use to clean your brushes) to your brush. Personally, I like Japonesque's Makeup Brush Cleanser, especially because it comes in rosewater scent, which smells amazing.

2) Next, insert your fingers into the Brush Egg -- like a glove. Then, simply rub the bristles of your brush on the brush egg in a circular motion. Obviously, you'll want to use the side of the egg with the cleaning surface. I tend to use the larger ridges for larger brushes and the smaller, textured area for smaller brushes, like eye brushes.

3) Reapply cleanser and repeat as needed.

4) When the brush is clean, rinse the Brush Egg and the brush. I use a paper towel to wipe off any additional makeup residue from the Brush Egg.

The entire cleansing process takes less than a minute per brush, although larger brushes may require a little extra time. However, as I said, the entire process is really streamlined, effective, and super easy. Nothing gets my brushes cleaner than the brush egg and nothing is easier to use. Plus, because it's small, it's super easy to clean and store.

Final rating: 10/10
