October Favorites
Is anyone else shocked that it's already October? I feel like this year went so quickly.
On a side note, my favorite thing about October is the name of the month. October is called October because it used to be the 8th month of the year (oct being the Latin root for 8). October is now the 10th month because July and August (named for Julius Caesar and Caesar Augustus) were added when the Julian calendar was invented. We currently use the Gregorian calendar, but it's just a fun fact, ya know? (PS, the Julian calendar and changes to the calendar over time are super interesting; look it up some time).
"October in the Chair" by Neil Gaiman is also one of my favorite short stories of life.
Cocoa Butter by The Body Shop - I have a long standing love for the Body Shop's Body Butters. They're super creamy, nourishing, and just generally delicious and wonderful. This is the second tub of the Cocoa Butter formula/scent that I've gone through, and it's fantastic. I ADORE it because it smells like chocolate. Honestly, what could be better? Now, when I say it smells like chocolate, I don't mean the gross, fake chocolate scent. I'm talking about the vanilla, cocoa, hot chocolate smell that the Too Faced palettes have. I think this is just a super cozy scent, and I love it for Fall.
Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser Primer by Maybelline - I am not a primer snob. In fact, I am the exact opposite of a primer snob; I like just about every primer that I come across. Nonetheless, I do like this primer, and I've been using it a lot this month. It's a great, pore filling primer, and, even better, it's priced for the drug store. I feel like this is a good, reliable, every day primer. If you're looking for a good, every day primer that will work for you and not cause drama with your foundation, you should check this primer out.
Eyestudio Lasting Drama Waterproof Gel Pencil by Maybelline - I'm constantly on the lookout for good liners for the waterline, and they are few and far between, believe me. This liner, however, is a really pigmented, long lasting liner; it's still in my waterline at the end of the day, and that's basically all I'm asking for. This is a great liner at a great price, and I highly recommend checking it out.
Pineapple Coconut Lip Scrub by Fizz & Bubble - I'm not gonna lie. I like this product because it tastes good. I originally picked it up because my lips have been kind of dry and crusty lately, and I wanted to pick up a product that would inspire me to exfoliate. This product definitely inspire me to exfoliate because I like eating it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ . In terms of the effectiveness, I would say this product is decent. It's not super exfoliating, but it's a nice, gentle scrub that's good for every day use. If you use this product consistently, I imagine it would keep your lips nice and soft and smooth.
Ultra Satin Lip in Ambush by ColourPop - I love ColourPop's Ultra Satin Lip formula; it's the ultimate in liquid lipsticks, in my opinion. The Ultra Satin Lip doesn't move, doesn't bleed, is comfortable, and lasts all day. It does transfer and fade a bit throughout the day, but I don't mind reapplying, and, to me, the comfort of lipstick is worth a little extra effort. Right now, I'm particularly loving the Ultra Satin Lip in the shade Ambush. Ambush is true red. And, when I say true red, I mean true red. I am a connoisseur of the color red, so I know what I'm talking about. This isn't blackened red, purple toned red, orange red, blue red, oxblood red, or pinkish red; it's TRUE RED, and I love it. It's the perfect red, and red is the perfect color for fall. If you like red lipstick, go buy Ambush right now.
Anyway, those were my favorites this month! Let me know what your favorites were in the comments.
