Review: No Filter Concealer by ColourPop
Okay, so I know that I totally missed the boat (is that an expression? I don't know) on this product. Everyone else has already been using this concealer for like a million years, and I just got my hands on it like three weeks ago. I wanted to get it when it was first released, but those ColourPop restocks though! Anyway, once my shade was in stock for more than 2.5 seconds I bought it.
As I said, I've had this concealer for a few weeks now, and I've had plenty of time to try it out and form my opinions.
First of all, I have to say that I'm really excited to see ColourPop branching out into complexion products. I hope that this concealer is the first of many ColourPop complexion products to come! I think I would melt into a puddle and die if ColourPop released a foundation.
That being said, I know that Colourpop has been criticized--rightly so--for the shade range of this concealer, and I do agree that ColourPop should release this concealer is darker shades. Unfortunately, it seems that a non-inclusive shade range is par for the course with most drug store brands. I don't consider ColourPop to be a drugstore brand, but it is drugstore priced. However, lots of drugstore brands only release 3-4 shades of concealer and call it quits, so I do think 15 shades is a step up in that regard, but, unfortunately, it's not good enough.
Okay, now let's talk about the actual product.
First of all, I love the packaging of this product. I appreciate that this concealer comes in a tube with a doe foot applicator. I'm currently on a crusade against squeeze bottle concealers, so packaging is pretty important to me. But seriously, squeeze concealers are super messy and difficult to apply. I feel like squeeze concealers will be the death of me, but I digress. This packaging also has a nice heaviness to it. I feel like this concealer doesn't look like it costs $6; the packaging is uber luxe.
So, as I said, I love the packaging, but I have mixed feelings about the actual product. This concealer does have nice coverage and it is quite long lasting. As I'm writing this, I've had this concealer on for about 18 hours, and it's still mostly in place, which I think is pretty impressive. It's also pretty creaseproof. I have noticed a small amount of creasing with this concealer, but, then again, I've never used a concealer that's 100% creaseproof on me, so I think the problem might be me, not the concealer. In any case, I don't think you're going to have noticeable creasing with this concealer.
However, I find this concealer very difficult to blend. Part of the problem is that this concealer dries VERY quickly. I mean, you really, really have to work quickly with this concealer or it will set and you'll be out of luck. But, even when I apply this concealer one eye at a time, I still have trouble blending. I think this is just a dry formula and it doesn't like to move once you put it on your face. I'm sure some people like those qualities in a concealer, but I'm not one of those people.
Don't get me wrong, I can definitely make this concealer work, and I'll definitely keep using it. I just think that it requires a little extra effort.
Final rating: 8/10
