Disappointing Products: Winter 2018/2019

I'm glad to say that I'm not often disappointed by makeup products that I buy. I try hard to find ways to make products work, and I read reviews carefully, so I don't often buy products that are bad. However, sometimes products disappoint me, and I like to write about them so that others don't make the same mistakes.

I'm not trying to drag any brands, and I'm not saying that you definitely won't like these products (makeup preferences are very personal), but these are some products that just didn't work for me. With that being said, let's get into these disappointing products.

 Emerald Obsessions Palette by Huda Beauty - When Huda Beauty announced that they were releasing new Obsessions palettes, I got really excited. I never bought anything from Huda Beauty before, but I really liked the idea behind these new, jewel-toned obsessions palettes. So, as soon as these palettes were released, I picked a couple of them up. Although I love the color story of this palette, I was really disappointed by the performance. People rave about Huda Beauty's eyeshadow formula, so I was expecting something really fantastic. Instead, I found these palettes to be really mediocre. The shimmer shades are kind of crumbly, and the matte shades are kind of dry and patchy. I don't think these Obsession palettes are worth the money, and I wouldn't recommend them.



 Amethyst Obsessions Palette by Huda Beauty - As I said above, I found the Obsessions palettes to be kind of underwhelming. Although I like the Amethyst Obsessions more than the Emerald Obsessions, I still found the mattes to be kind of dry and patchy, and I found the shimmers to be crumbly.



Pro Palette 3 by Lorac - I'm really behind the times on this palette. It was released a long time ago, but it took me a long time to get it and get around to reviewing it. I've tried this palette a bunch of times, and I've really, really tried to like it, but I just can't warm up to this palette. I feel like I should like this palette because the color scheme looks very pink and nuetral, which is right up my ally. On the lid, however, all the colors just kind of blend out into the same muddy sort of shade. I'm also not a huge fan of this formula. The shimmers are fine, but the mattes are kind of patchy. I'm surprised that I don't love this palette because I usually like Lorac palettes, but I just don't love this palette.

The De-Clutter is Real

Let's get one thing straight, I have way too much makeup. I am confident that I will continue to have way too much makeup for the rest of my life. I have enough eyeshadow and lipstick to make sure that my lips will be sticky (weird choice of words, I know) and my eyes will be shadowed for the rest of my life -- and then some. Anyway, I don't mind having a lot of makeup, but, sometimes, it gets a little overwhelming (even for me). So, I recently embarked upon a de-clutter. I especially wanted to de-clutter some stuff because I was preparing to move and I didn't want to drag a lot of unnecessary stuff to my next apartment (I'm fairly sure that I did drag a lot of unnecessary stuff to my new apartment, but that's beside the point). Review: Tarte 9 Ways To Shine Cheek Wardrobe

I usually do my best to resist buying holiday makeup releases. Often, holiday products have a different formula and aren't as good as other products carried by the brand. However, sometimes holiday releases are just too good to miss. I recently grabbed one of Tarte's holiday releases, the 9 Ways To Shine Cheek Wardrobe. As the name suggests, this is basically a face collection with nine shades of blush, highlight, and bronzer. I was primarily interested in it because 1) I like Tarte blushes and 2) the packaging was SO CUTE .  The shades come in three stacks that slide open and fold up as needed. Recently, I've been obsessed with things that come in this fun, folding packaging, so I'm really glad that Tarte released this product. I just think that this is such a good idea for travel and all that jazz.
