Winter Empties
It's been a few months since I've written an empties blog, which means I've accumulated a TON of used up products. So, buckle up because this is going to be a long, long post.
Personally, I really like writing and reading/watching empties blogs. I like watching empties videos because it inspires me to use things up, and I like writing them because it gives me a sense of accomplishment. Plus, it's nice to feel like I'm actually getting my money's worth out of all the makeup I buy (and, trust me, I buy a lot of makeup). So, without further ado, let's get into it:
Dandelion by Benefit - I use up a blush very seldomly. Obviously, a blush is tough product to use up because you only use a small amount each time you use it. That's why I'm so incredibly proud of myself for using up the Dandelion blush by Benefit. Granted, it was only a travel size, but it was still a pretty big accomplishment in my book. I've been on a no-buy with blush for a long time, and the length of time it takes to use up a blush is why. I really liked Dandelion. It's a very subtle, delicate shade of pink that really flatters my skin tone. However, I will probably not be repurchasing it (at least, not for a long time) because I have a ton of other blushes to use up.
Volumizing Lip Balm by Catrice - This product was a bit of a disappointment to me. I bought it because I thought that this lip balm would have a plumping effect on my lips (as the product description says), but it really doesn't. It's basically just a lip balm, and not a very good one at that. I used this product up because I spent money on it, but I wouldn't repurchase it.
Aromatherapy 24HR Moisture Butter in Stress Relief by Bath & Body Works - Man do I love B&BW lotions! I think they're great. They have strong scents, they're very nourishing on the skin, and they don't leave any residue on the skin. The moisture butters are especially fantastic. They're so thick and creamy, and they feel great on the skin. I really liked this stress relief scent; it's a eucalyptus spearmint scent, and it's very calming and very neutral.
Acne Fighting Foundation by e.l.f. - The Acne Fighting Foundation by e.l.f. is one of my favorite drugstore foundations. It has great coverage, and it has a beautiful natural finish. Plus, it's super affordable. I don't know if it actually does anything to reduce acne, but it's a good foundation all the same. The shade selection is terrible, but that's the only down side. I already have a new bottle of this foundation, and I will continue to repurchase.
Prep + Prime Skin by MAC - I get a sample of this primer every now and then, and I always enjoy it. I like this primer because it's creamy and moisturizing, and it makes a good base for makeup. I don't use a lot of primers, but this one is a good one. If you're looking for a high-end primer, I recommend this one.
Photo Focus Concealer (Light Ivory) by Wet n' Wild - I've been through a ton of tubes of this concealer. It's one of my favorite drugstore concealers, and I always have it in my collection. It gives good coverage, it doesn't crease, and it has a nice, natural finish. Plus, it's affordable. The only problem is that it doesn't come in very many shades. I've already repurchased this concealer, and I'll definitely continue to repurchase it.
Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation by L'Oreal - This is a great foundation; I wrote about it in my favorite foundation blog. It has a beautiful, dewy finish with medium coverage, and it's so flattering on the skin. It's not very long-lasting; however, you can easily fix that by mixing in other foundations. I would definitely repurchase this foundation in the future, but I have a lot of foundations to use up, so I won't be repurchasing it any time soon.
Geometric Highlighting Powder in Sun Ceremony by Wet n' Wild - It's no secret that I'm not a huge fan of Wet n' Wild's highlighters. I picked this up a long time ago because I liked the way the product looked in the pan. Unfortunately, it didn't really work out for me. I've tried many times to find a Wet n' Wild highlight that I like, and it just isn't happening for me! This particular highlight didn't really have much of a shimmer. I actually ended up mixing it with my setting powder in order to use it up. The fact that I was able to use it as a setting powder should really tell you something. Anyway, this product was limited edition, so you can't buy it anymore, but I wouldn't recommend other Wet n' Wild highlights either.
Solstice Highlighting Palette by Sleek - I believe this is the first time I've used up a palette. Let me say that again: I used up a palette. I think I deserve a big pat on the back for that. Well, I used up 3/4 pans (the fourth pan was a creme highlight that I wasn't going to use because I don't like creme highlights, so I decided it was close enough to empty). The Solstice Highlighting Palette by Sleek is my ride or die highlight palette; it's just so versatile. I find myself reaching for this highlight palette almost everyday; the highlights just seem to go with every look. Plus, the formula of the powders is great. They're very smooth and creamy, and the shimmer is subtle, as opposed to big chunks of glitter. I highly recommend this palette, and I've already purchased a new one.
Hello Happy Soft Blur Foundation by Benefit - I reviewed this foundation a few months ago; I liked it, but I don't think I liked it enough to repurchase it. The coverage is pretty light, which I'm not always a huge fan of, and it didn't really do much for my skin. It's not a bad foundation, but it just wasn't very flattering on my skin.
Fix+ (in Rose) by MAC - I love Fix+. I've gone through so many bottles, I can't even count. It's a great setting spray, it sort of melts all your makeup together and has almost a blurring effect. I don't think I need to talk too much about Fix+; everyone knows how fantastic Fix+ is.
Daily Hydration Moisturizer by e.l.f. - I picked up this moisturizer a while ago because it was cheap. It's not a bad product; it's just your run-of-the-mill, standard moisturizer. It's perfectly fine if you don't have a lot of skin concerns (like me). If you do have extremely dry skin or other skin concerns, this might not be the product for you. I probably won't repurchase this product because I picked up a Clinique moisturizer that I prefer. However, if you're looking for a cheap moisturizer, you might enjoy this one.
Holographic Stick in Supernova by Milk Makeup - This product was one of the first products that I reviewed on my blog. I didn't like it at all, and I struggled to find ways to use it. However, I paid more than twenty dollars for it, and I really wanted to get my money's worth, so I decided to use it as a primer just to use it up. I did that, and I used it as a primer for months and months until I finally used it up. I'm really proud of myself for using it up, but I definitely wouldn't repurchase it in the future.
Panda's Dream White Sleeping Pack by Tony Moly - I've been through several containers of this night cream. It's my favorite because it's alcohol free, it's super refreshing, and it leaves my skin feeling smooth and creamy. Plus, the packaging is super cute and it's affordable. I already have a new container, and I'll definitely continue to repurchase it.
Naturals Tahitian Gardenia Flower & Mango Butter Curl Defining Detangler by Not Your Mother's - I've been through a ton of bottles of this product; it does a great job of detangling your hair. My hair gets tangled really easily, so it's a really essential product for me. It makes it so much easier to brush out your hair without pulling a ton of strands out. I always have to have it in my collection, and I already have a new bottle.
Ultra Shea Body Cream in Sensual Amber by Bath & Body Works - I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I love B&BW lotion. It feels very nourishing and moisturizing on the skin, and they always have strong fragrance that lingers on the skin. The Ultra Shea Body Creams are particularly thick and moisturizing. This particular scent is kind of a musky, warm scent. It was perfect for winter.
Dry Cleanser by Unwash - This product is essentially dry shampoo. I don't use a ton of dry shampoo, but when I do, I like this one. It does a good job of sucking the oils out of your hair, and, more importantly, it's clear, which is really, really important to me. I already have a new bottle of this product, and I'll definitely continue to repurchase it.
Facial Spray With Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater by Mario Badescu - I've gone through a couple of bottles of this rosewater spray. I usually get it when it's on sale or in Mario Badescu kits. I like this spray. I find it to be very refreshing and enjoyable on the skin. However, it's not something I feel like I need to have in my collection all the time. I'll probably have it in my collection again at some point, but I'm not going to repurchase it right now.
Tea Tree Skin Clearing Foaming Cleanser by The Body Shop - I picked this face wash up a while ago because it's supposed to help with acne. Granted, I don't really have acne, but I thought it would do my skin good anyway. I think it did a good job of cleaning my skin, but I didn't like the scent, and I don't think it did anything special for my skin, so I won't be repurchasing it.
Shower Gel in Dark Kiss by Bath & Body Works - I love B&BW's shower gels; they're usually the only shower gels I use. The shower gels are really concentrated, and you get a lot of use out of one bottle of product. The scents are also really concentrated, so they linger on your skin for a while. Dark Kiss is kind of a fruity, sweet smell. I like it for winter, but it's not my favorite overall.
Age Shield Face Sunblock Lotion SPF 110 with Helioplex by Neutrogena - Sunscreen is one of those essential products that I use everyday, whether or not I'm wearing makeup on that day or not. I really like the Neutrogena sunblock because it has a very smooth, non-greasy texture, and it doesn't interfere with the way that makeup applies. It also has a really high amount of SPF, which is obviously really important (especially because I'm pale). I already have a new bottle of this sunblock, and I'll definitely continue to repurchase it.
Coconut Oil by Spectrum Organics - I'm a big believer in coconut oil. I use it on my hair and on my face to remove makeup. It's really nourishing and effective, and it makes my skin extra soft. I really recommend coconut oil as an all-purpose skin and haircare product, especially if you have dry skin. I already have a new jar and will continue to repurchase it.
Coconut Cleansing Wipes by Yes To - I've written A LOT about these wipes. I've used up a lot of these wipes in the past, and, over the past few months, I used up several packets of these wipes. They check all my boxes: they're cheap, they smell good, they're gentle on the skin, and they do a great job of removing makeup.
Facial Cleansing Towelettes with White Tea Extract by Burt's Bees - There a bunch of makeup remover wipes on the market, but there's only a handful of wipes that I use on a consistent basis. These White Tea Extract wipes by Burt's Bees are one of them. They're great wipes at an affordable price. I've used tons of these wipes in the past, and I'll definitely continue to repurchase in the future.
