Review: Hello Happy Soft Blur Foundation by Benefit
So, a few months ago, Benefit released a new foundation called the Hello Happy Soft Blur Foundation. At first, I wasn't really interested in trying out the foundation, but then I saw that they were selling a travel size for only $10, so I thought I might as well try it out.
I have been really into trying foundations lately, and I do like Benefit as a brand, so I thought this would be a good foundation to try out.
To give you some background, this foundation comes in 12 shades and costs $29. Benefit describes it as a foundation that "looks like skin and feels like nothing at all." I've been using it for a few weeks, and I think that that's a very accurate description. This is a very light coverage foundation that's designed to give the "your skin but better" look.
This foundation is true to its description for sure. However, I'm not sure how I feel about the formula overall. I went back and forth a few times about this foundation. At first, I didn't like it at all. But, the more I used it, the more I liked it. As I said above, the foundation has very light coverage; it gives a natural look, which isn't for everyone. I tend to have mixed feelings about light coverage foundations; sometimes I love them, sometimes not. I think that this foundation does look flattering on the skin.
However, it can be a little difficult to work with. If you apply too much of this foundation, it starts to look very cakey and heavy very quickly. You probably don't want to apply more than one layer of this foundation.
The other issue is that this foundation breaks down rather quickly, especially around the mouth and chin. I estimate that you only get 4-7 hours of wear time out of this foundation before it starts to break down.
After using this foundation a few times, I did decide that I liked it. It looks natural and flattering on the skin. However, I think there are better options. My personal favorite light coverage, natural looking foundation is Born This Way by Too Faced.
I do think that this product is a little expensive for what it is, but Benefit is a high end brand, so I understand. On the other hand, the packaging is adorable.
Long story short, this is a good foundation. If you like light, natural coverage, I think you'll be happy with this.
Final Rating: 7.5/10
