Disappointing Products (Fall 2018)

Sometimes, products don't work out for me. It's frustrating to talk about disappointing products sometimes because it's upsetting when a product doesn't work out. However, I do think that it's important to talk about disappointing products so that other consumers can make an informed choice.

That being said, I have some disappointing products to share with you today, so let's get into it:

Ultra-Rich Body Butter in White Flowers by Ulta - I picked up this lotion because I was on vacation visiting a friend, and I had forgotten to bring lotion with me. I don't know what it is about this product, but the formula is not good. It smells good, but it leaves a strange residue on the skin, and it doesn't really feel like the moisture sinks into the skin. If anything, it just sits on top of the skin and makes you feel greasy.

Ultra Glossy Lip by ColourPop - I have two ColourPop lip glosses (in the shades Flying Horses and Jubilee), and I don't like either of them, which is unfortunate because the shades are gorgeous. First of all, these lip glosses have a strange smell, which I don't love. However, the biggest problem with these glosses is the applicator. It comes with this tiny brush with super stiff bristles, and it's just impossible to apply lip gloss that way. I feel like I'm trying to paint on lip gloss with a tooth pick; it's ridiculous. It this product came with a doe foot applicator, it would be great. You could probably find another way to apply this product, but, for me, it's a huge deterrent.

Fairy Wings And Magical Things Eyeshadow Palette by Essence - I was really excited when I first saw this palette on Ulta's website. I was like "wow, this is so cool and interesting!" I was really inspired when I saw it, so I ordered it right away. Unfortunately, when I got the palette, I didn't really like it. The shades are really chalky and not very pigmented. The mattes are kind of patchy and don't blend very well, and the shimmer shades are really dusty and just cling to the lid in a strange way. The shimmers just don't look very smooth on the lid. This palette is only $10, so I don't want to be too critical, but I just don't think it's very good. I know I won't use it again, so it was kind of a waste of money for me.

I'm With The Band Eyeshadow Palette by Essence - I picked up this palette at the same time I picked up the Fairy Wings And Magical Things Eyeshadow Palette. They seem to be in the same palette "series," for lack of a better word. I really like the color story of this palette, and the shade names are great! Each one is a reference to a different song, which I thought was really cute. Unfortunately, the quality is not there. This palette is super chalky, the shades have zero pigment, the shadows have a lot of fall out, and the shades are impossible to blend. When you put these shadows on your eyes, they just blend out into nothing. This palette is cute, but it's just not worth the money.
