Review: Studio Fix Fluid by MAC
As you probably know, I love to try new foundations.
A little while ago, I was in Ulta, and I decided to pick up the Studio Fix Fluid Foundation by MAC. Now, this is not a new foundation, but it is new to me, so I want to review it. I think that sometimes people focus too much on new releases and not enough on solid, good quality products that already exist.
That being said, I want to talk about this foundation.
First of all, I should say that this foundation gives light to medium coverage, and it has a matte finish. It comes in 59 shades, which is awesome. My shade is a near perfect match for me, which is pretty difficult to find. I don't think there's any other brand that has more foundation shades on the market than MAC, at least, no other brand that I'm aware of. It costs $30, which is pretty reasonable for a high-end foundation.
In terms of the formula, I have mixed feelings. This is a very matte foundation, which is not my favorite finish by any means. I just don't think matte is very flattering on me. That being said, this is a very natural looking foundation on the skin, which I like. On its own, it's usually a little too matte for me. However, if I mix it with a pump of another, more dewy foundation, it's absolutely perfect. That being said, it's not as matte, and it applies a bit better if you apply this foundation with a brush, as opposed to a sponge.
Another thing I notice is that this foundation doesn't always play nice with my concealers. Sometimes when I apply concealer over the foundation, the foundation starts to lift up, which is not very cute.
Long story short, I think this foundation formula would be absolutely perfect for someone with oily skin who likes a more natural, no-makeup look. Strangely enough, I do really enjoy this formula as well, but, as I said, I do have to do some extra work to make it work for me.
Final Rating: 8/10
