My ColourPop Pressed Shadows Collection: Part 2
A little while ago, I wrote a blog post about my collection of ColourPop single shadows. Since then, I've picked up a lot of new single shadows by ColourPop, so it seemed like a good time to write an update post.
I have quite a large collection of ColourPop single shadows, which is a little strange because I don't always love ColourPop's eyeshadow formula. I have a lot of ColourPop palettes as well, but I think the formula of those shadows is better than the formula of the single shadows. I find the formula of the single shadows to be very hit and miss. Some of them are fantastic, some of them are mediocre, and some of them are unusable. So, hopefully it will be helpful if I tell you which ones are good and which ones are not.
Anyway, without further ado, let's get into my shadow collection.
Take the Lead - This is a very ordinary shade. It's a cool, kind of murky brown. It's a very versatile shade; however, I'm not the biggest fan of the formula. It's kind of patchy and difficult to blend. You can definitely work with this shade, but I have similar shades that I prefer from other brands, so I wouldn't really recommend picking this up.
Cutoffs - I don't really have strong feelings about this shade. It's a subtle champagne, gold-ish shade with a pink undertone. It's not super pigmented, but it's fairly easy to blend, and it's a versatile shade. I could take it or leave it, but, if it's the sort of shade you like, I think it's a good buy.
Upon a Star - This shade is a reddish, coppery shade. It's a very pretty shade and very flattering, but I'm not a fan of the formula. It's basically pressed glitter, which means that it's not very pigmented and it has a lot of fall out. It doesn't blend well, and it's messy and difficult to work with. It's more of a shadow topper than an actual shadow. If you're into that, you might like this shadow, but, otherwise, I would stay away from it.
Team Captain - This is a LOVELY shade of green. It can probably best be described as army green; it's kind of a murky, brown toned shade that is still distinctly green. You can't fault ColourPop for their shade selection. ColourPop's formula, however, is more of mixed bag. This shade has a lot of fall out, and it's a bit chalky, but the pigment is there. If you take your time and build it up and blend carefully, you'll be fine. This is definitely a shade you'll want to look into if you're a green lover.
Prowlin' - This is a gorgeous, shimmery cool-toned purple with a silvery undertone. It's absolutely beautiful, and it has a fantastic, creamy formula. It's pigmented and blendable, and looks very flattering on the lid. I wear it a lot with the shades Howlin' and Two to Mango. Needless to say, I highly recommend this shade.
Fault Line - I really wanted to like this shadow because I thought it was such a unique, beautiful shade. It's a bright blue with a purple shift, and it's stunning in the pan. On the skin, however, not so much. This shade just doesn't have a lot of pigment, which is a problem I run into a lot with blue eyeshadows. For whatever reason, it seems to be really tough to make a blue shadow that actually looks blue when you blend it out. Anyway, I don't like this shadow very much. It's tough to use, doesn't blend well, isn't very pigmented, and has a lot of fall out.
Two to Mango - This is a beautiful eyeshadow; it's a warm, orchid, lilac-ish shade. It's super unique, and I don't think I have anything else like this in my collection, not to mention that the formula is fantastic. It's creamy, pigmented, and blendable. If you enjoy purple or pink eyeshadow, I think you'll really love this shadow.
Howlin' - I am HERE for this shade. It is a GORGEOUS matte lilac shade, and I love it. It's pigmented, blendable, and just fantastic overall. If you like purple or pink shadows, you absolutely have to pick this up. It's similar to Two to Mango, but Howlin' is more purple and more cool toned. As you can probably guess, I really recommend this shadow.
