Game of Thrones Inspired Nails: Night's Watch Edition

So, if you've been reading my other blog, you know that I'm a big fan of Game of Thrones and I'm super excited that it's back for season 6.

For this week's episode, I decided to do a Night's Watch inspired manicure because I had a feeling (and I was correct) that important things were going to happen at the Wall in this episode.

Anyway, I started off with two coats of black polish because, of course, the Night's Watch wear black. I used Sally Hansen's Black Out, but you can use any black polish you have. It doesn't have to be anything special, just basic black.


Next, I applied a holographic top coat over four of my nails. I used Butter London Stardust, which has a nice rainbow effect, but any holo top coat will do. The rainbow holo reminds me a bit of the way light reflects on snow, which seemed very appropriate for Jon Snow. (Who is definitely my favorite reanimated corpse).

For my accent nail, I just put a coat of Butter London's Petrol overcoat over black. Petrol is kind of a bluish purple, so it makes the black look like a vampy teal. It sort of reminds me of black ice.


This is a very versatile manicure. You could do a holo top coat on all five nails if you wanted, or you could do the accent nail as a full manicure. The world is your oyster! Unless, of course, you're a member of the Night's Watch. Then, you have to follow the Lord Commander's orders.

I usually do my best to resist buying holiday makeup releases. Often, holiday products have a different formula and aren't as good as other products carried by the brand. However, sometimes holiday releases are just too good to miss. I recently grabbed one of Tarte's holiday releases, the 9 Ways To Shine Cheek Wardrobe. As the name suggests, this is basically a face collection with nine shades of blush, highlight, and bronzer. I was primarily interested in it because 1) I like Tarte blushes and 2) the packaging was SO CUTE .  The shades come in three stacks that slide open and fold up as needed. Recently, I've been obsessed with things that come in this fun, folding packaging, so I'm really glad that Tarte released this product. The Violet One Lash Primer by Milani: Review

I don't normally use lash primer, but recently I've heard good things about the Violet One lash primer by Milani, so I decided to try it out. I've now been using it for about a month, and I have some thoughts to share. First of all, I should say that this primer DEFINITELY makes a difference. Sometimes, I feel like primers in general are just an extra step, but every now and then you stumble upon one that is really good. This primer really does lengthen and volumize your lashes. In fact, when used properly, it almost gives a false lash effect. Milani calls it a "next-level lash primer with a better than falsies formula that really does it all," and I think that's pretty accurate. When layered with regular mascara, the primer gives you longer and fuller lashes. However, this product does have some problems. First of all, it clumps like CRAZY. HUGE Declutter (Winter 2019/ Spring 2020)

I've been decluttering a LOT of products lately. I don't know if it's because we're all in lockdown or because I'm in Spring cleaning mode, but I've recently had the urge to really get my collection under control. I have way too many things that I don't need/use in my collection, and I feel like it's time to get rid of them. As a disclaimer, I will note that I'm not necessarily decluttering these products because they're bad; I'm decluttering them because they're not compatible with my makeup needs or because I have similar things that I like more. Most of the things I've decluttered will go to either friends/family or Project Beauty Share, a charitable organization that gives gently used or new makeup products to women in need.
