Reviews: Peanut Butter and Jelly Palette by Too Faced
I picked the Peanut Butter and Jelly Palette by Too Faced in the end of April after I heard a ton of buzz and positive reviews about it. I've been using this palette for about a month and I have some thoughts about it to share with you.
First of all, let me say that I was super excited to get my hands on this palette! I love the concept, and I think it's super unique. I mean, it's not often that you see an entire palette of warm toned neutrals. Too Faced has been doing a really good job lately with coming up with awesome ideas, and I'm really impressed with their new products. The idea of a Peanut Butter and Jelly palette is super cute. I love the packaging with the little smiling sandwich; it's absolutely adorable. Plus, I love that Too Faced uses tins for their palettes instead of cardboard. It makes you feel like your eyeshadow is very secure and protected.
In terms of formula, this palette is really, really high quality. I believe that the formula of the shadows is the same formula as the Too Faced Chocolate Bar and the Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar. They're super creamy, super blendable, super long lasting, and super pigmented. I mean, they're almost too pigmented. I suggest using a very light hand with these shadows and building them up gradually. Plus, they all smell like chocolate; let's be real, you can't beat that. I have zero complaints about the formula; Too Faced has really perfected the art of creating a good eye shadow.
In terms of the shades themselves, I'm a little more mixed. In my personal opinion, a lot of these shades are challenging. Don't get me wrong, they are gorgeous colors, but some of them are very difficult to use. A lot of the reviews I saw made it seem like this was a neutral palette that you could use on an everyday basis. They are definitely more neutral shades, however, I don't know if this is really an everyday palette. Some of the shades are very orange and very dark. Also, all of the shades are very warm toned. Personally, I like warm toned shadows, however, if you like cool tones, this is not the palette for you.
For example, the shades Peanut Butter, Peanut Butter Cup, Bananas, and Extra Creamy are great every day shades.
However, Spread the Love, Peanut Brittle, and Nuts About U are extremely orange and very pigmented. I recommend using a very light hand with these shades. It's very difficult to get an every day, natural look with any of these shades. (Unless your every day look is orange, in which case, this is the palette for you).
You also have the shades Jammin' and Jelly, which are the "pops of color" in this palette. I don't often do a colorful eye look, so these shades aren't really for me. However, if you like purple eyeshadow, you'll probably enjoy these shades.
In conclusion, whether or not you like this palette will depend greatly on what sort of eye look you like (which sounds like the most obvious sentence ever). Although these shadows are neutral in the sense that they are brownish, orangish tones, they are quite bold. If you like to do a more natural look, this may not be the perfect palette for you.
