Reviews: Afterglow Palette by Becca

Okay, total honesty, I've had this palette for a while. I bought it during the Ulta 21 Days of Beauty sale for a reduced price. At first, I was really excited because I'd wanted it for a long time. However, I have to say that I'm actually kind of disappointed with it -- which is why I haven't reviewed it up until this point.

I really, really want to like Becca products. I really do. But, to be completely honest, I'm just not impressed with their products. However, that's a blog for another day. Today, I just want to give you some thoughts about the Afterglow Palette.

The Afterglow Palette comes with three Shimmering Skin Perfectors (in the shades Moonstone, Rose Gold, and Topaz) and two Mineral Blushes (in the shades Wild Honey and Flowerchild).

My biggest complaint about this product is the packaging. As you can see from the picture, there are five pots of product in a rectangular case. What you can't really see in the picture is how small the pots are. Each one is about the size of a quarter, which would be fine for eye shadow, but is really annoying for blushes and highlights. Normal blush and highlighting brushes are simply too big for these little pots of product. You end up getting the product everywhere as you try to get it out of the pot, then the shades get mixed together, and it becomes super messy. All in all, it's such a pain to use that it makes the product much less appealing.

In terms of quality of the actual product, the blushes are really nice. I particularly like Wild Honey (second to the right in the picture). Flowerchild is a little two pink for me, but it has a nice texture and it's definitely good quality. I know I said that I was disappointed with the palette, but it actually made me want to look at more Becca blushes.

The Skin Perfectors are just normal Becca Skin Perfectors. I don't have very many Becca products, so I thought this would be a nice way to try some of the Skin Perfectors that everyone seems to like so much. To me, they seem incredibly ordinary. They're okay; they don't look bad, but I don't feel like they have anything special to offer. Like, if you want a really pretty highlight, you should go for Tarte highlighters or Colourpop highlighters or something like that. My favorite is Moonstone; however, for my money, NARS Albatross is a better product.

All in all, for mediocre products in really, really bad packaging, this isn't worth the money. This product is normally $40 (I bought it on sale), which is far too expensive for what you get. I hardly ever reach for this palette and it's because I have to work really hard to use a product that is just okay.

Final rating: 5/10
