Reviews: Creme Gel Liner by Colourpop

As you all know, I'm a big fan of Colourpop, so, when they had a flash sale a few weeks ago, I couldn't resist doing a little shopping. One (or more accurately two) of the things I purchased was Colourpop's Creme Gel Liner, which -- obviously -- is a gel eyeliner.

I bought this eyeliner because KathleenLights raved about it in one of her videos. I think it's a decent product. It's not amazing, but it's not bad, and, for the price, it's perfect for every day use.

As I said in my last blog about eyeliner (for the waterline),  I look for four things in an eyeliner: ease of application, pigmentation, staying power, and -- most importantly -- reaction with contact lens.

First of all, this liner is very easy to apply. It's a twist up pencil -- so you don't have to worry about sharpening it -- and the liner is very soft and goes on easily, without a lot of pressing and dragging. However, the application isn't always even. I had to go over a few spots more than once because it applied a little patchily.

The pigmentation is also not the greatest. If you want a nice, dark line, you're probably going to have to go around your eye more than once to build up the color.

Fast Lane
That being said, one of the things I really appreciate about this liner is the range of colors it comes in. Colourpop has two pages of different colors on their website (excuse me while I try to contain my excitement). I have mine in the shades Fast Lane and No Shame. Fast Lane is a dark, blue toned green; Colourpop's website describes it as an "intense blackened teal." No Shame is dark purple; Colourpop says it's "saturated blackened violet." But, they also have just about any shade of eyeliner you can think of: blue, white, pink, brown, black, green, grey, purple, orange, and yellow. (Personally, I'm a big fan of green, purple, and brown eyeliners).

Once you build the color up, it's fairly long lasting. It does wear away in places and get a little patchy after a while, but I think that that's to be expected for the price. All in all, I would say that you can probably get three to six hours of good, solid, wear out of this liner, depending on how watery your eyes are. For the price ($5), I would say it's worth putting up with the patchiness or re-applying.

No Shame
However, what is most important to me is how an eyeliner reacts with contact lens. Fortunately,  I had absolutely no problem with this liner in regards to my contact lens. It didn't smear, and it didn't smudge the lens (sigh of relief).

All in all, I'm pretty satisfied with this liner. It's fairly long lasting, fairly pigmented, easy to apply, and it doesn't mess with my contact lens. Plus, for the price ($5) it's a fantastic deal.

Final Rating: 7.5/10
