May Empties

Image
Guys. I used up so. many. products. this month. I'm actually kind of impressed with myself. Plus, using things up is always a good excuse to buy new stuff. Anyway, these are the products I used up this month: Rose Salve by C.O. Bigelow ($9.80) - This is one of those things that I've had forever--we're talking more than four years, here--and I don't know where I got it or why I had it, but I decided to use it, and I didn't hate it. I've been putting this on my lips every night before I go to bed, and it makes my lips nice and soft and moisturized in the morning. In fairness, they dry out again very quickly, but it isn;t this product's fault that I have dry lips. The only thing I don't like is the packaging. It's a little tin, so you have to dip your finger in, which I don't think is sanitary. I would repurchase this though. Plus, it smells great and the packaging is super cute. Shape Tape Concealer by Tarte ($25.00) - Do I need to ...

The Ride Or Die Makeup Tag

Image
A few months ago Jaclyn Hill started the Ride of Die Makeup Tag  (In case you haven't seen it, I'm attaching her original video to this post). I saw it, got super excited, decided I had to do it immediately... and then promptly forgot about it. Well, I recently saw Kathleen Lights doing this tag, and I was reminded that I wanted to do the tag. So, today I'm going to do the Ride or Die Makeup Tag...before I forget about it again. My tag is basically Jaclyn's tag, but I added and removed a couple of categories to more accurately reflect the sort of makeup I use on a day to day basis. Note: some of the pictures in this blog are my own photos and some are photos from Sephora/Ulta/the manufacturer. I'm using the manufacturer photos because (a) I don't have all of these products in my collection at this exact moment or (b) I've used some these products so much that they're not "pretty" enough for photographs. Primer - I had a lot of trouble pi...

May Favorites: Recommendations

Image
Honestly, I don't have a lot of new favorites this month. I've basically been using a lot of the same products and I have a lot of the same favorites. However, I do have a couple of products that I use regularly that I want to talk about. Age Shield Face Sunblock Lotion SPF 110 with Helioplex by Neutrogena ($13) - This product has been one of my favorites for a long time. I use it basically every day under my makeup as a daily sunscreen (it could also probably work as a daily moisturizer as well). Although I use it every day and I've been using it for a while, I thought it was a good product to mention because it's finally getting sunny outside. (Dare I say it? Summer may be here.) This is my favorite sunscreen because I am very, very fair and I definitely need SPF 110. Not to mention that it doesn't feel greasy on the skin, doesn't have a strong scent, and it works well with my makeup. The texture is also very nice and moisturizing. Even if you don't n...

Brush Haul & Reviews

Image
Okay, so I don't exactly know how this happened, but, somehow, this became makeup brush month for me. (Clearly, I'm not complaining). I ended up buying three brushes this month, which is odd for me because usually I buy makeup brushes once in a blue moon (or, once in a pink moon because I like pink). Brushes by Wet n' Wild ($.99 - 2.99) : So, first off, I bought two brushes from Wet n' Wild's new line of brushes. And, as you may or may not be able to guess, I bought them because Kathleen Lights recommended them. I bought the blush brush and the small concealer brush (because almost everything else was out of stock). Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with these brushes. They're very soft, very pretty, and very, very cheap. And, when I say cheap, I mean $.99 to $2.99. I would say that these are good basic brushes. However, the bristles aren't very tightly packed, which means it isn't the best at blending product on your face. I actually use my blush b...

Ulta 21 Days of Beauty Product Reivews

Image
So, as many of you probably know, Ulta's 21 Days of Beauty starts today . The 21 days of beauty is a sale event during which Ulta marks down particular popular products ( you can see everything on sale here ). Needless to say, it's my favorite time of the year. As I was looking through this years' sale items, I noticed that I already own quite a few of these products. So, as you consider whether or not you want to indulge in the 21 Days of Beauty, I thought I would write some mini reviews of sale items that I already own. Merry 21 Days of Beauty! Loose Eyeshadow by BareMinerals (on sale for $7.50) : This year for Christmas I received a bunch of these single, loose eyeshadows from a friend. I have to say that I was very impressed with the quality. They are super pigmented, very creamy, and -- for the price -- you get a ton of product. They also have a beautiful selection of colors. However, since they are loose eyeshadows, they are a little more difficult to apply. If y...
