August & September Empties

Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation by L'Oréal ($12.99) - Dude. I loved this foundation. L-O-V-E-D it. It gives your skin such a beautiful, dewy finish and it's super easy to apply and work with. My only complaint is that it's a bit too dewy for my skin. Don't get me wrong, it looks lovely on the skin, but, after a few hours, it starts to get that oily look, which is not flattering. If you have dry skin, I'm guessing this wouldn't be any issue for you (I would say that my skin is normal to dry). If you have "normal" skin, this might be a mild issue, as it is for me. If you have oily skin, this is NOT the foundation for you. A good way of getting around the oil issue, however, is mixing it with another foundation. This is actually a fantastic mixing foundation (side note, I love mixing foundations together). I've mixed this foundation with a ton of other foundations, and it's always turned out great. My favorite foundation mix is this foundation ...

May Empties

Guys. I used up so. many. products. this month. I'm actually kind of impressed with myself. Plus, using things up is always a good excuse to buy new stuff. Anyway, these are the products I used up this month: Rose Salve by C.O. Bigelow ($9.80) - This is one of those things that I've had forever--we're talking more than four years, here--and I don't know where I got it or why I had it, but I decided to use it, and I didn't hate it. I've been putting this on my lips every night before I go to bed, and it makes my lips nice and soft and moisturized in the morning. In fairness, they dry out again very quickly, but it isn;t this product's fault that I have dry lips. The only thing I don't like is the packaging. It's a little tin, so you have to dip your finger in, which I don't think is sanitary. I would repurchase this though. Plus, it smells great and the packaging is super cute. Shape Tape Concealer by Tarte ($25.00) - Do I need to ...

January Empties

New year = new empties, and boy did I use up some products this month. Buckle up because I have a TON of empties to share with you this month! Coconut Oil by Nature's Promise - Let me be clear, coconut oil is the real MVP. I adore coconut oil. I use it in my hair, I use it on my face, and I use it to take off makeup. It's a perfect product! Plus, it smells FANTASTIC. You guys know me, I'm all coconut scent all the time; that's just how I roll. I've already repurchased this, plus, I have an extra back up jar. Sugar Crush Body Wash by Soap & Glory - I wrote about this product in a favorites blog a few months ago . I really liked this product; it's relatively inexpensive, smells great (lime citrus and sugar, yum!), and gets the job done. However, I find that I have to use a lot more of this body wash per shower than I do when I use Bath & Body Works body wash. I don't think it's as concentrated, if that makes sense. Because of that, I pr...

Disappointing Products of 2016 (Part 2)

Image
So, a few days ago, I published a blog called "Disappointing Products of 2016." Well, I thought that I had gotten all of my disappointment out of my system, but it turns out that I was wrong. A lot of cosmetic products have let me down this year, and you're going to hear about it (I mean, if you're interested or whatever). Fix+ by MAC - I know that this will sound sacrilegious to some people, but I don't love Fix+. In case you don't know, Fix+ is a setting spray by MAC and it's a cult classic. However, for me, it doesn't work very well as a setting spray. When I bought it, I knew that it wouldn't hold my makeup in place as well as Urban Decay's All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray. I understand that Fix+ is designed to give a more dewy, glowing look, rather than just holding your makeup in place. However, it doesn't do that for me. I feel like it doesn't do anything for my makeup. I'm going to use it up because it was fairly expe...

Disappointing Products of 2016

Some people feel bad about criticizing beauty products they didn't like. I am not one of those people. Stay Matte Foundation by Rimmel London - I like to experiment with makeup, especially inexpensive makeup. Recently, I've been on a quest to find a really good drugstore foundation. This is not that foundation. This is an incredibly mediocre foundation. First of all, the coverage is not good. I mean, I suppose that some people prefer light coverage foundations; I'm not one of those people. If I wanted a light coverage foundation, I have my skin. Secondly, it starts to break up and crease around my chin and nose immediately. I'm going to try to use it up because I paid money for it, but I'm not happy about it. Bamboo Finishing Kabuki Brush by EcoTools - A few months ago, I decided that I needed some new face brushes because my kabuki brush was getting really old and shed like crazy. However, I didn't want to spend a ton of money on new brushes so I decid...
