The Loch Ness Monster Likes Makeup Too

I try out a lot of makeup. And, when I say a lot, I mean a LOT. Most of it works well for me, but there are always some products that just don't cooperate. And, recently, there have been a lot of products that have let me down. So, I decided to make a list of all the products that have let me down lately. I tried these terrible products so you don't have to. Consider it a public service announcement. You're welcome. Creme de la Creme Palette by ColourPop - I picked this product up from ColourPop's clearance section a few months ago. I was really excited to try it because I thought the shades looked perfect for my skin. Unfortunately, this palette let me down. The highlights just don't have any pigment! What they do have is glitter. Lots of it.  Basically, this palette just creates a glittery mess on my cheeks, and that's not a cute look in my opinion. I've been doing some spring cleaning lately, and I decided that I really needed to buckle down and de-clutter some makeup (gulp). I managed to cut a lot of stuff out of my collection, so let's get right into the products I decluttered: Goodnight Sweetheart i-Divine Eyeshadow Palette by Sleek - I haven't used this palette in a long , long time. In fact, I kind of forgot that I had it. I did review it a long time ago , and I thought it was good quality and performed well. I just don't use this palette anymore, so I passed it on to a friend. So, a few days ago, I published a blog called "Disappointing Products of 2016." Well, I thought that I had gotten all of my disappointment out of my system, but it turns out that I was wrong. A lot of cosmetic products have let me down this year, and you're going to hear about it (I mean, if you're interested or whatever). Fix+ by MAC - I know that this will sound sacrilegious to some people, but I don't love Fix+. In case you don't know, Fix+ is a setting spray by MAC and it's a cult classic. However, for me, it doesn't work very well as a setting spray. When I bought it, I knew that it wouldn't hold my makeup in place as well as Urban Decay's All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray. I understand that Fix+ is designed to give a more dewy, glowing look, rather than just holding your makeup in place. However, it doesn't do that for me. Last month, I started a series of blog posts about the nail polish I wear every month. So, if you enjoyed embarking on a nail polish voyage with me last month, climb aboard the nail polish cruise ship with me. Ladybird by Butter London and White Out by Sally Hansen - The first manicure I did this month was based on this tutorial I watched about how to create nail art hearts with dotting tools . As you can see, it worked out alright. I struggled a bit to make the hearts neat and they ended up looking a bit like Micky Mouse ears. So, if you've been reading my other blog, you know that I'm a big fan of Game of Thrones and I'm super excited that it's back for season 6. For this week's episode, I decided to do a Night's Watch inspired manicure because I had a feeling (and I was correct) that important things were going to happen at the Wall in this episode. Anyway, I started off with two coats of black polish because, of course, the Night's Watch wear black. I used Sally Hansen's Black Out , but you can use any black polish you have. It doesn't have to be anything special, just basic black. Next, I applied a holographic top coat over four of my nails. I used Butter London Stardust , which has a nice rainbow effect, but any holo top coat will do. The rainbow holo reminds me a bit of the way light reflects on snow, which seemed very appropriate for Jon Snow. (Who is definitely my favorite reanimated corpse). So, I've decided to try a new sort of post this month. Recently, I've been really into nail polish and doing my nails. Actually, I don't think I left the same nail polish on for more than two or three days in a row this month. I wanted to talk about some of the nail looks I did this month, so I took a picture of every manicure I did this month (sans one horrible, glittery, gloopy mess that I couldn't bring myself to photograph) and now I'm going to write about.
