Disappointing Makeup Products: Winter 2019/2020

Image
I try out a lot of makeup. And, when I say a lot, I mean a LOT. Most of it works well for me, but there are always some products that just don't cooperate. And, recently, there have been a lot of products that have let me down. So, I decided to make a list of all the products that have let me down lately. I tried these terrible products so you don't have to. Consider it a public service announcement. You're welcome. Creme de la Creme Palette by ColourPop - I picked this product up from ColourPop's clearance section a few months ago. I was really excited to try it because I thought the shades looked perfect for my skin. Unfortunately, this palette let me down. The highlights just don't have any pigment! What they do have is glitter. Lots of it.  Basically, this palette just creates a glittery mess on my cheeks, and that's not a cute look in my opinion. TruNaked Queenship Shadow Stick by CoverGirl -  I got this product as a free sample when I purc...

New to My Collection (October 2018)

Image
Every now and then, I like to make some space on my blog for products that aren't favorites but aren't disappointments either. I pick up a lot of products that aren't really interesting enough to have a full review devoted to them, so I talk about them in my "New to My Collection" blogs. My feeling is, even if I don't think it's a very interesting or exciting product, there may be someone out there that would benefit from a short review of the product. So, in the interest of reviewing as many products for you as possible, let's get in to what's new to my collection this month: Photofocus Primer Water Spray by Wet n' Wild - I don't want to by mean to Wet n' Wild here, but there's some chance that this primer water is actually just water. It does nothing at all for my makeup. The sprayer also does NOT produce a fine mist; it comes out in HUGE droplets. However, I don't really mind this product because it's very refreshin...

The De-Clutter is Real

Image
Let's get one thing straight, I have way too much makeup. I am confident that I will continue to have way too much makeup for the rest of my life. I have enough eyeshadow and lipstick to make sure that my lips will be sticky (weird choice of words, I know) and my eyes will be shadowed for the rest of my life -- and then some. Anyway, I don't mind having a lot of makeup, but, sometimes, it gets a little overwhelming (even for me). So, I recently embarked upon a de-clutter. I especially wanted to de-clutter some stuff because I was preparing to move and I didn't want to drag a lot of unnecessary stuff to my next apartment (I'm fairly sure that I did drag a lot of unnecessary stuff to my new apartment, but that's beside the point). Anyway, I managed to de-clutter quite a bit of stuff, and I wanted to talk about the items I'm getting rid of, so let's get into the details. These are the products I decided to de-clutter: Bright Set Loose Finishing Powder by S...

Products I'm De-Cluttering in 2018

Image
I know it's not spring (oh how I wish it was), but I decided to do some spring cleaning in my makeup collection, and I'm de-cluttering a few things. I don't often de-clutter products; if I spend money on something, I make a genuine and sincere effort to use it up. Still, sometimes you just have to throw things out or pass them along to someone else. That being said, these are the things I've decided to de-clutter from my collection: Full Spectrum Palette by Urban Decay - I'm not mad at this palette, it's just that I never use it. I reviewed this palette about 11 months ago , but I've actually had it in my collection for longer than that. When I wasn't working in an office job, I used this palette fairly regularly because I did a lot of colorful eye looks; nowadays, I don't have occasion to do a lot of colorful eye looks, and, thus, I don't get a lot of use out of this palette. Besides, I have a ton of other colorful eye shadows scattered among...

June Favorites: Recommendations

Image
I feel like there are only so many ways you can introduce a favorites blog. I mean, as much as I'd like to be creative with my favorites introductions, there's only so far you can go. You can't start out a favorites blog like: "aren't you annoyed by people with fidget spinners? Those things should be illegal on the subway. Anyway, these are my favorite products this month." Anyway, these are my favorite products this month (see what I did there?). Grindhouse Double Barrel Sharpener by Urban Decay ($10) - This is sort of weird, but one of my favorite products this month was my new pencil sharpener from Urban Decay. I picked up the Grindhouse Sharpener a few weeks ago after I finally got fed up with my Essence Duo Sharpener. I've come to the conclusion that pencil sharpeners are one of those products that you never appreciate until you get a really good one after you've had a bad one. It's so refreshing to finally own a sharpener that 1) actual...
