The De-Clutter is Real

Let's get one thing straight, I have way too much makeup. I am confident that I will continue to have way too much makeup for the rest of my life. I have enough eyeshadow and lipstick to make sure that my lips will be sticky (weird choice of words, I know) and my eyes will be shadowed for the rest of my life -- and then some. Anyway, I don't mind having a lot of makeup, but, sometimes, it gets a little overwhelming (even for me). So, I recently embarked upon a de-clutter. I especially wanted to de-clutter some stuff because I was preparing to move and I didn't want to drag a lot of unnecessary stuff to my next apartment (I'm fairly sure that I did drag a lot of unnecessary stuff to my new apartment, but that's beside the point).

Anyway, I managed to de-clutter quite a bit of stuff, and I wanted to talk about the items I'm getting rid of, so let's get into the details. These are the products I decided to de-clutter:

Bright Set Loose Finishing Powder by Sephora - I picked this up a while ago when it was on sale at Sephora. The product itself was fine. However, it's far too yellow for me to use as a setting powder. The formula is nice, and the powder is very finely milled. However, it makes me look a little jaundiced, which is not a cute look. Just sayin'.

Naked Heat Palette by Urban Decay - I picked this palette up right away when it was realized. I was really excited about it, and I was sure that I was going to fall in love with it. When I first got it, I did really enjoy it. The formula of the shadows was one of the best that I'd seen in a while, and I was really impressed with the palette. However, a few months later, I realized that I wasn't using the Naked Heat palette at all. There was nothing wrong with the formula; I realized that I just didn't like warm toned shadows as much as I thought I did. Anyway, I decided to pass this palette along to a friend.

Modern Renaissance Palette by Anastasia Beverly Hills - A few months ago, a friend mentioned to me that she was considering picking up the Modern Renaissance Palette. I immedately thought to myself, "I have the Modern Renaissance, and I never use it; I should give her mine." I sort of forgot about that conversation after that, until I stumbled upon my Modern Renaissance Palette when I was packing to move. I decided to send it to the friend who had mentioned that she wanted it because I couldn't remember the last time I used it. I wrote a full review of the Modern Renaissance when I bought it, and I liked it at the time, but I never really fell in love with it. I think it's a bit over-hyped, and I wasn't reaching for it, so I decided that it was time to part ways with this palette.

Peanut Butter and Jelly Palette by Too Faced - I picked the Too Faced Peanut Butter and Jelly Palette up a few months after it was released. I was really excited about it at the time, and I liked it when I first got it. I wrote a full review of the palette if you want more details.  However, as time went on, I realized that I wasn't reaching for this palette. I simply don't like warm toned shadows as much as I used to, and this is an extremely warm toned palette, so I just wasn't using it (I seriously need to stop buying warm toned shadows). Anyway, I decided to pass it along to a friend who likes warm toned shadows more than I do.

Infallible Pro-Matte 16HR Powder (Porcelain) by L'Oréal - I found this powder in my collection when I was preparing to move (yes, I've moved three times in the past year and a half) and realized that I hadn't opened it yet. I usually don't like mattifying powders and I couldn't remember why I was interested in trying the powder in the first place, so I decided to pass it along to a friend.

Eyeshadow Base by NYX - I've had this eyeshadow primer in my collection for a long, long time. Basically, it's a drugstore alternative to MAC Paint Pots. When I first purchased this primer, I used it all the time. However, when I discovered MAC Paint Pots, I basically stopped using it. Eventually, I realized that the primer had gone bad and the primer was applying in clumps that were difficult to smooth out. I've had this primer in my collection for several years, so I decided it was time to toss it and focus on using my MAC Paint Pots.

Saucy Little Darling Lipstick by MAC - I picked this lipstick up a while ago; it's from the MAC Nutcracker Sweet Collection. I like MAC's lipstick in general, but this particular shade just didn't work for me. It's far to bright and peach toned for me. I decided to pass this lipstick on to my mom because she likes bright pinks and orange toned pinks, and I thought the color would be perfect for her. I thought she would get more use out of it than me.

Bella White by Milani - I picked this shadow up a while ago; I had heard that the Bella shadows by Milani were good, so I wanted to try them out. I liked all of the Bella shadows that I tried (full review here), including this one. However, I found that I hardly ever used this particular shadow (Bella White), so I decided to pass it along to my mom. My mom loves shimmery white eyeshadows, so I thought she would get more use out of it than me.

Behind the Scenes Eye Primer by Lorac - I received a sample size of this eye primer when I bought my Lorac Pro 3 palette. I've tried this eye primer in the past, and I've found that it just doesn't work for me. I prefer to use MAC Paint Pots as eyeshadow primer because I really prefer eye primers that are very thick and creamy and opaque. Anyway, I know that I don't like this primer, so I sent it to a friend of mine.

Let me know in the comments if you de-cluttered anything lately!
