October Favorites

Image
I don't know about you, but October went past pretty quickly for me. I feel like I say this a lot, but I feel like I blinked my eyes and October was gone. I tried quite a bit of new makeup in October, which I'm working on reviewing now. However, I do have some new favorites this month, and I'm excited to share them with you, so let's dive in: Climax Mascara by NARS - I've been hearing about how great NARS' Climax Mascara is for a while. I finally got a sample from Sephora, and, let me tell you, it is not over-hyped. It is a really, really nice product. The mascara really makes your lashes look very full and long and "fluffy" for lack of a better word. It's a gorgeous and very flattering mascara, and I understand why so many people love it. I've been really enjoying this mascara this month, but I don't think I can justify repurchasing it because of the price. I get so many sample mascaras, and there are so many good quality, cheap mascara...

Summer Favorites

Image
First of all, I'd like to apologize for not writing a favorites blog in approximately a million years. I think I last wrote a favorites blog in April, which is completely unacceptable. Anyway, I promise that I'll be better about writing favorites blogs in the future. The truth is that, on a day to day basis, I basically use the same products all the time, so I never feel like I have many new favorites to talk about. However, I have been using some really amazing products lately, and I want to talk about them. So, let's get into my summer favorites: Fame Palette by ColourPop - I recently wrote a full review of this palette , so you can read it here if you're interested. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I like this palette, I've been using it on almost a daily basis to put together looks for work. I like cool toned shadows, so this is basically a perfect neutral palette for me. The formula is really nice too; normally, I don't really like ColourPop'...

April Favorites

Image
This month was extremely busy for me; I spent a lot of time traveling, moving, and packing to move. Consequently, I don't have a lot of new favorites. If I was wearing makeup, I was mostly using tried and true favorites. However, I do have a couple of new favorites to share with you. Flawless Finish Foundation by e.l.f. - I have four words: I love this foundation. If you know me, you know that I'm a huge fan of drugstore foundations. In my opinion, there's no real reason to buy a high end foundation; quite honestly, drugstore foundations provide almost the same quality. I would say that the Flawless Finish Foundation provides medium to full coverage and a demi-matte, satin finish. It's a beautiful foundation, it's very flattering on the skin, and it's fairly long wearing. On an average day, I get a solid eight hours of wear out of this foundation. Plus, it's only $6; there's no way that you'll get better value for that price. I highly recom...

Winter Favorites

Image
So, as you may or may not be able to tell, I've fallen off the favorites blogs band wagon. That's mostly because I haven't had a lot of new favorites lately. When I find a product that I like, I reach for it again an again, and it's tough for me to come up with a new list of favorites every month. So, instead, I decided to put together a list of my winter favorites.  This winter, I've been going for cool and neutral toned makeup. These are the products I've been reaching for all winter: Born This Way Foundation by Too Faced - From the moment this foundation touched my face, I was like "where has this stuff been all my life?!" This is a beautiful foundation. It has a satin finish, light to medium coverage, and a "your skin but better" look on the face. If you're looking for full coverage, full glam foundations that are going to cover a lot of redness and texture, this is probably not the foundation for you. However, if you want a ...

November Favorites

Image
November was a busy month for me. I feel like I say that every month, but it's really true. I've been traveling for Thanksgiving and generally getting ready for the holidays. Thus, I haven't been being too adventurous with my makeup lately. However, I do have a few favorites to share this month: I'm Glistening (Snowball Collection) by MAC - As I said in a previous blog post, I don't usually buy many holiday products from makeup brands because I'm often disappointed in them. There are, of course, some exceptions. MAC's holiday collection this year was a BIG exception for me. It's just such an incredibly beautiful collection; the packaging is to die for. You really have to see it in person to understand how lovely it is. Unfortunately, it sold out before I got a lot of the stuff that I wanted, but I'm hoping they'll restock. Fortunately for me, I did manage to get the thing that I wanted most: the lipstick in I'm Glistening. I'm Glisten...

October Favorites

Image
Is anyone else shocked that it's already October? I feel like this year went so quickly. On a side note, my favorite thing about October is the name of the month. October is called October because it used to be the 8th month of the year (oct being the Latin root for 8). October is now the 10th month because July and August (named for Julius Caesar and Caesar Augustus) were added when the Julian calendar was invented. We currently use the Gregorian calendar, but it's just a fun fact, ya know? (PS, the Julian calendar and changes to the calendar over time are super interesting; look it up some time). "October in the Chair" by Neil Gaiman is also one of my favorite short stories of life. That's all I have to say about October right now. I also used a lot of makeup in October; these are some of my favorite products from the last month: Cocoa Butter   by The Body Shop  - I have a long standing love for the Body Shop's Body Butters. They're super creamy...

July Favorites: Recommendations

Image
The summer is flying by! I can't believe July is already over. The next time I blink, summer will be over. But, for now, there's still time to rock beautiful, summer makeup looks (and to attend Game of Thrones viewing parties, but there's not a lot of makeup in that show, so I guess it's not really relevant). B.A.E. Illuminating Face Primer by Lottie London ($9.99) - Ulta recently started selling a new, British cosmetic brand called Lottie London. As you can imagine, I get super excited whenever Ulta starts carrying a new brand, so I immediately went on Ulta's website to see what Lottie London was all about. A lot of their products interested me, but I was particularly intrigued by the B.A.E. Illuminating Face Primer. I had just run out of my Wet n' Wild primer, so I decided to pick it up and try it out. Now, as I've said before, there aren't many primers that I don't like. Most primers work pretty well for me, but this one is especially good. I l...

June Favorites: Recommendations

I feel like there are only so many ways you can introduce a favorites blog. I mean, as much as I'd like to be creative with my favorites introductions, there's only so far you can go. You can't start out a favorites blog like: "aren't you annoyed by people with fidget spinners? Those things should be illegal on the subway. Anyway, these are my favorite products this month." Anyway, these are my favorite products this month (see what I did there?). Grindhouse Double Barrel Sharpener by Urban Decay ($10) - This is sort of weird, but one of my favorite products this month was my new pencil sharpener from Urban Decay. I picked up the Grindhouse Sharpener a few weeks ago after I finally got fed up with my Essence Duo Sharpener. I've come to the conclusion that pencil sharpeners are one of those products that you never appreciate until you get a really good one after you've had a bad one. It's so refreshing to finally own a sharpener that 1) actual...

March Favorites: Recommendations

Image
So, it's the end of March, right? That should mean it's Spring, right? Funny story about that, March was more wintery this year than December. Life is weird, huh? Anyway, I'm still in winter makeup mode, whatever that means. I don't think I vary my makeup choices my season as much as other people. I tend to do my makeup to match my clothes, or, sometimes, I pick my clothes to match the makeup look I want to do. Regardless, I think my makeup favorites this month transcend season. This is what I was loving in March: Studded Kiss Lipstick  ( Wolvesmouth)  by Kat Von D  - I've been wanting to try out Kat Von D's Studded Kiss Lipstick for a while, and, a few weeks ago, I finally gave in and bought one. I picked up the shade Wolvesmouth, which is described as "metallic berry," and, so far, I'm quite impressed with it. First of all, it's a gorgeous, unique color. It's sort of a deep, berry red with a bluish, purplish shimmer. I have a lot of...
