The Loch Ness Monster Likes Makeup Too

If you've been in the makeup-verse at all recently, you've heard about e.l.f.'s Poreless Putty Primer. Everyone on the internet has been saying fantastic things about it, so I decided to pick it up and test it out. I've been using it for a couple of months, and I have some thoughts to share. First of all, I should say that I've heard that this is a dupe for the Tatcha Silk Canvas Primer . I've never tried the Tatcha primer, but I have to say that I'm really enjoying this primer. It does a great job of filling your pores, extending the wear time of your makeup, and providing a tacky base for your makeup to stick to. I don't think this primer is going to change your life or make you look like a movie star or anything like that, but it does make a noticeable difference in your makeup. I should note that I don't really have any problems with pores, so you might notice a bigger difference if that's something you struggle with.  Overall, I think ...

Every now and then, I like to make some space on my blog for products that aren't favorites but aren't disappointments either. I pick up a lot of products that aren't really interesting enough to have a full review devoted to them, so I talk about them in my "New to My Collection" blogs. My feeling is, even if I don't think it's a very interesting or exciting product, there may be someone out there that would benefit from a short review of the product. So, in the interest of reviewing as many products for you as possible, let's get in to what's new to my collection this month: Photofocus Primer Water Spray by Wet n' Wild - I don't want to by mean to Wet n' Wild here, but there's some chance that this primer water is actually just water. It does nothing at all for my makeup. The sprayer also does NOT produce a fine mist; it comes out in HUGE droplets. However, I don't really mind this product because it's very refreshin...

For some reason or another, I ended up with a lot -- and I mean a LOT -- of products this month. So, let's dive right into the empties: Daily Hydration Moisturizer by e.l.f. - This moisturizer is the "salt of the earth," so to speak. It's a very basic, no frills, no nonsense moisturizer. I don't think it's the best moisturizer out there by any means, but it gets the job done and it's very budget friendly. If you feel that your skin needs a lot of extra moisture, you will probably want to opt for a high end moisturizer. However, for people with ordinary skin on a budget, I think this product will be a great buy. I've already purchased a new bottle of this moisturizer. B.A.E. Illuminating Face Primer by Lottie London - I  have to say that I really enjoyed this primer; it was very illuminating and it gave my skin a "lit from within" glow. A few months ago, I started a series called New to My Collection, in which I talk about products that I've recently added to my makeup collection and what I think about them. I didn't get a ton of new things in November, so some of these things are from October. However, I want to talk about them anyway and give you my thoughts. So, without further ado, here are some products that were new to my collection in November: Infallible Blend Artist Foundation Blender by L'Oreal - You can stick a fancy name on a makeup sponge, but it's still just a makeup sponge and that's what this is. Personally, I think this sponge is just okay. However, I should say that I prefer sponges with a flat edge. I think this sponge is a good size, has good density, and is very good about not soaking up all your makeup. It gives nice coverage and all of that jazz; I just wish it had a flat side. Is anyone else shocked that it's already October? I feel like this year went so quickly. On a side note, my favorite thing about October is the name of the month. October is called October because it used to be the 8th month of the year (oct being the Latin root for 8). October is now the 10th month because July and August (named for Julius Caesar and Caesar Augustus) were added when the Julian calendar was invented. We currently use the Gregorian calendar, but it's just a fun fact, ya know? (PS, the Julian calendar and changes to the calendar over time are super interesting; look it up some time). Empties blogs are definitely my favorite blogs to write. I always feel so proud of myself after using up a product. It's like a badge of honor or something. That's weird right? Like, I'm super proud of myself for using up not one, not two, but THREE packs of wipes. Anyway, weather it's weird or not, I used up a lot of products this month and you're going to hear about it. Tomatoes Clear Skin Detoxifying Charcoal Facial Wipes by Yes To - I wrote about this product recently in a disappointing products blog. Partially, it was my own fault that I didn't like this product. I thought that these were going to be makeup removing wipes, and it turned out that they were actually some sort of acne-fighting, cleansing wipes. Okay, fine. That's my fault for not paying attention to the description. I decided I would try to use these wipes to clean my face after removing makeup, and they didn't work for that either. The summer is flying by! I can't believe July is already over. The next time I blink, summer will be over. It's the end of the month, and that means...EMPTIES! You guys know I like empties, so let's get into it: Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation by Maybelline ($7.99) - Okay, I get why everyone is so in to the Maybelline Fit Me line. This is a really good foundation! I mean, this is a foundation I can count on, and there aren't many of those in life. It has medium to full coverage, it has a really nice, demi-matte finish, it has a pretty good shade range, it's easy to mix with other foundations, and it's cheap. What's not to like? I always like the way my makeup turns out when I use this foundation, and I will definitely repurchase it.
