New to My Collection (November 2017)
A few months ago, I started a series called New to My Collection, in which I talk about products that I've recently added to my makeup collection and what I think about them. I didn't get a ton of new things in November, so some of these things are from October. However, I want to talk about them anyway and give you my thoughts. So, without further ado, here are some products that were new to my collection in November:
Infallible Blend Artist Foundation Blender by L'Oreal - You can stick a fancy name on a makeup sponge, but it's still just a makeup sponge and that's what this is. Personally, I think this sponge is just okay. However, I should say that I prefer sponges with a flat edge. I think this sponge is a good size, has good density, and is very good about not soaking up all your makeup. It gives nice coverage and all of that jazz; I just wish it had a flat side. That being said, I think it's a great value for the money ($8) and I would recommend picking it up if you like rounded sponges.
Make It Dewy Setting Spray by Milani - I've been making an effort to try more setting sprays lately, so I thought I'd pick up a Milani spray and try it out. I haven't tried many Milani products, but I have liked what I tried. Anyway, I think this spray is okay. I don't think it does very much for me; if a product tells me that they're going to make me dewy, I want them to make me dewy. I will say that this product does "melt" your makeup together and get rid of the powdery look on the skin; however, I don't think it really does anything for the weartime of your makeup. I'm not mad at this product, but I don't think I'll be repurchasing.
Prime Light Strobing + Pore-Minimizing Face Primer by Milani - I haven't tried this primer out yet, but I sure am excited about it. In my experience, primers are either pore filling or dewy, not both. So I was super intrigued when I saw this primer. As I said, I haven't tried it out yet, but I'm looking forward to it.
Magnetic Mosaic Custom Magnetic Palette by Tarte - Honestly, I haven't picked up many holiday products this season. In general, I don't love holiday kits/holiday releases. I feel that brands tend to skimp on quality compared to their permanent products. Obviously, that isn't true of everything, but it's something I've noticed about holiday products in general. However, I did pick up one item from Tarte's holiday collection: the Mosaic Custom Magnetic Palette. Basically, this is just an empty, magnetic palette, like a Z palette, but the packaging is absolutely gorgeous. I mean, you can see it in the picture; it's all red and gold glitter, and it's just so stunning and beautiful. It's also a very sturdy palette, and -- and this is important -- it doesn't shed glitter everywhere. The glitter stays on the palette, which is amazing. Tarte also released another, bigger palette like this in purple, and I'm half tempted to get it. I should note that this palette is on the small side; it holds about 9 ColourPop powder shadows.
Facial Cleansing Towelettes Pink Grapefruit by Burt's Bees - I picked these wipes (and some other wipes) up from Ulta because they were on sale. I was really impressed with the Facial Cleansing Towelettes with White Tea Extract from Burt's Bees (more about that in another blog post); however, I'm not in love with these. These wipes are incredibly mediocre; they remove makeup, but you really have to scrub at your face to get it off. They're also a tad bit dry, which may be why they don't remove makeup as well. I'm also not crazy about the scent, which is a personal preference thing. I don't think these wipes are unusable, but I recommend picking up the Facial Cleansing Towelettes with White Tea Extract instead.
Anyway, those are a few things that were new to my collection this month! Let me know what you added to your makeup collection this month in the comments.
