March Favorites: Recommendations

So, it's the end of March, right? That should mean it's Spring, right? Funny story about that, March was more wintery this year than December. Life is weird, huh? Anyway, I'm still in winter makeup mode, whatever that means. I don't think I vary my makeup choices my season as much as other people. I tend to do my makeup to match my clothes, or, sometimes, I pick my clothes to match the makeup look I want to do. Regardless, I think my makeup favorites this month transcend season. This is what I was loving in March:

Studded Kiss Lipstick (Wolvesmouth) by Kat Von D - I've been wanting to try out Kat Von D's Studded Kiss Lipstick for a while, and, a few weeks ago, I finally gave in and bought one. I picked up the shade Wolvesmouth, which is described as "metallic berry," and, so far, I'm quite impressed with it. First of all, it's a gorgeous, unique color. It's sort of a deep, berry red with a bluish, purplish shimmer. I have a lot of lipsticks, and I don't have any colors like this, which makes it very special in my collection. It is more of a winter color, and we're going into spring now, but the weather is still pretty cold and unpleasant, so I feel okay about wearing winter colors. The formula is also really great. It's very long lasting; this color seems to stain your lips a bit, so it holds up very well to eating
and drinking. Also, It's very light weight, and I feel like it really glides onto the lips.

Cherry Topped by MAC - I was in the MAC store a few weeks ago and, true to form, I was immediately drawn to the eyeshadows. I have a few MAC single eyeshadows and, in general, I've been impressed with them (although there are some that I don't love). You guys know that I love red and pink eyeshadow, so I was super drawn to this shadow, Cherry Topped. Cherry Topped is a super bright, hot pink glittery shadow, and I love it. It's just so vibrant and fun. True, it's not a shadow that you can wear everyday, but I've worn it a couple of times this month, and it really made a great impression on me. Typically, glittery shadows don't have a lot of pigment, so I was pleasantly surprised and impressed by this shadow.

Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour (Burnt Spice) by MAC - I never really got onto the liquid lipstick band wagon. I have liquid lipsticks, and I like them, but I really prefer traditional lipsticks. But, as I said, I was in MAC a few weeks ago, and one of the artists put a Retro Matte on me, and I really liked it. I ended up buying the shade Burnt Spice (which really reminds me of Velvet Teddy), which is kind of a peachy, pinky nude that's very appropriate for work. As I said, I'm really impressed with the formula of this liquid lipstick. It's super light weight and comfortable, and it's not one of those liquid lipsticks that starts to look cakey and weird if you put more than one layer on. As with most liquid lipsticks, it's also very long wearing and transfer proof.

Duo Chromatic Illuminating Powder (Snow Rose) by NYX - For a long time, I basically only used my Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette to highlight. I still love the Solstice Palette, but I wanted to mix up my highlighting routine, soI bought a bunch of drugstore highlights. I was pretty impressed with all of them, but one of my favorites was NYX's Duo Chromatic Illuminating Powder in the shade Snow Rose. Snow Rose is a pale pink highlight with a red shift. It's very wearable and subtle on its own, but it really pops with a cream highlight underneath (which is true of most powder highlights). In any case, it's a very flattering highlight, especially on fair skin.

Blushing Hearts Highlighter (Goddess of Faith) by Makeup Revolution - Another drugstore highlight that I've really been enjoying is Goddess of Faith by Makeup Revolution. It's part of their Blushing Hearts Highlighter line, and boy is it BRIGHT. It's a traditional white highlight with a pale gold undertone, but it's super glow-y and eye catching. I've especially been loving this as a nose highlight.

Fight Fallout Niacin & Caffeine Shampoo & Conditioner
by OGX - So, I've been wanting to try this shampoo/conditioner for a while. Seriously though, shampoo that prevents your hair from falling out is a great idea. I don't know about you, but I shed a LOT. Like, sometimes I look at my hair brush and think "how is there still hair on my head"? Anyway, I recently got a sample of this shampoo and conditioner from Ulta, and, I have to say, it was great. I mean, I only used it once, so it didn't really make any difference to my hair fallout situation. But, it smells great (minty and refreshing) and it made my hair really soft and healthy looking. Plus, they're only $7.99 each and, right now at Ulta, OGX is buy one get one 50% off, which is a good deal.  I'm probably not going to buy the full size shampoo and conditioner right now because I already have shampoo and conditioner, and it takes me a LONG time to go through shampoo and conditioner because I don't really wash my hair that often (dry hair problems, guys). So, it doesn't really make any sense for me to buy a lot of shampoo. When I run out of my current shampoo (in five million years or so), I might buy this in the full size.

Anyway, those are the products I was loving in March. Let me know what you were loving in March in the comments!
