June Favorites: Recommendations

I feel like there are only so many ways you can introduce a favorites blog. I mean, as much as I'd like to be creative with my favorites introductions, there's only so far you can go. You can't start out a favorites blog like: "aren't you annoyed by people with fidget spinners? Those things should be illegal on the subway. Anyway, these are my favorite products this month." Anyway, these are my favorite products this month (see what I did there?). Grindhouse Double Barrel Sharpener by Urban Decay ($10) - This is sort of weird, but one of my favorite products this month was my new pencil sharpener from Urban Decay. I picked up the Grindhouse Sharpener a few weeks ago after I finally got fed up with my Essence Duo Sharpener. I've come to the conclusion that pencil sharpeners are one of those products that you never appreciate until you get a really good one after you've had a bad one. It's so refreshing to finally own a sharpener that 1) actual...

Guys. I used up a lot--A LOT--of makeup this month. And, when I say a lot, I mean A LOT. I used up so much makeup that I feel like my makeup bag is 10 pounds lighter. Just kidding, I don't keep my makeup in a makeup bag, it would never fit. Anyway, get ready, these are all the products I used up this month: CoverAll Face Primer by Wet n' Wild ($4.99) - I have mixed feelings about a lot of Wet n' Wild products, but this is one product I really like. This primer provided a great base for my makeup, kept my makeup on all day, and was decently moisturizing. I don't know what else anyone could ask for. Granted, I have "normal" skin (not dry, not oily, not a lot of texture issues), so I have good results with almost every primer. Even so, I think this would be a good primer for people with normal to dry skin, and, for the price, you can't beat it. There are some other primers I want to try, so I probably won't repurchase it right now, but I would defini...

Mini Fiona Stiles Haul

Image
So, a few weeks ago, I wrote a first impressions blog about Fiona Stiles , a new brand that is available at Ulta. Long story short, I decided that this brand is a little hit or miss. Some of the products were really great and some art just okay. I wasn't really planning to pick up any more products from the Fiona Stiles line, but Ulta has had them on super sale (like 70% off or something crazy like that) for a while (I think they may be planning to stop carrying the brand), and I can't resist a good sale, so I decided to stock up. Without further ado, let's get to the haul: Artist Eyeshadow Quad in Canyon - I'm actually shocked that it took me so long to pick up some Fiona Stiles eyeshadow. I mean, you guys know that I'm an eyeshadow fiend . If my eyes are un-shadowed, I just don't feel right! The brand doesn't seem to have a complete palette yet, just a bunch of quads. Anyway, after doing some research I determined that the Canyon quad is everyone...

Disappointing Products (Spring 2017)

Image
So, a few months ago, I wrote two blog posts about disappointing products that I tried. I had so much fun venting about those disappointing products that I decided to do it again! Let's face it, it's nice to talk about products you like, but it's cathartic to talk about products you hate. This is probably obvious, but I'm not trying to hate on you if you like some of these products. Different products work differently for different people. Products that work for me might not work for you and vice versa. With that being said, these are some products that didn't work for me: Intuitive Blend Shade-Adjusting Foundation by Wet n' Wild ($5.99) - I cannot overstate how much I dislike this product. Usually, when I have a product I don't like, I do my best to use it anyway, and I'm usually able to make it work. I can't do ANYTHING with this product. When I saw it on Wet n' Wild's website, I thought it was a great idea. I mean, a self-adjusting f...

April & May Favorites: Recommendations

Image
Spring makeup is just the best makeup. Spring always inspires me to bust out the terracotta, gold, and peach-toned products and create dewey, fresh-faced looks. Spring just makes me think of sunshine and flowers and light, and I like to bring that into my makeup. I've basically been creating a gold eye look everyday and pairing it with peach blush and a gold highlight. As you may have noticed, I didn't get a chance to write a favorites blog last month, so this month is going to cover April and May. Without further ado, these are my Spring favorites for makeup. Rainforest of The Sea Color Splash Lipstick in Colada by Tarte ($21) - I've been dying to try one of Tarte's new Color Splash Lipsticks for a while. The packaging is ridiculously beautiful, and it's been getting fantastic reviews. I picked up the shade Colada during the Sephora VIB sale, and I've been loving it every since. It's a nice, terracotta toned nude shade that pairs perfectly with a golden...

Guys. I used up so. many. products. this month. I'm actually kind of impressed with myself. Plus, using things up is always a good excuse to buy new stuff. Anyway, these are the products I used up this month: Rose Salve by C.O. Bigelow ($9.80) - This is one of those things that I've had forever--we're talking more than four years, here--and I don't know where I got it or why I had it, but I decided to use it, and I didn't hate it. I've been putting this on my lips every night before I go to bed, and it makes my lips nice and soft and moisturized in the morning. In fairness, they dry out again very quickly, but it isn;t this product's fault that I have dry lips. The only thing I don't like is the packaging. It's a little tin, so you have to dip your finger in, which I don't think is sanitary. I would repurchase this though. Plus, it smells great and the packaging is super cute. Shape Tape Concealer by Tarte ($25.00) - Do I need to ...
