New to My Collection (July 2018)

Image
It's been a while since I've written a 'New to My Collection' blog. It's been a crazy couple of months for me. In the past three months, I've moved twice and gotten a new job. However, my life is starting to get back to normal, so I'm starting to get back to blogging! I haven't purchased a lot of new products lately, but I do have a few things to chat about. So, without further ado, let's get into the new products: Facial Spray with Aloe, Chamomile and Lavender by Mario Badescu - I picked this spray up because I have the Rosewater Spray by Mario Badescu, and I think it's very refreshing. I like to use the Rosewater spray before going to bed and on days I'm not wearing makeup; it's also a pretty decent priming spray. I was hoping that the Lavender Spray would be similar, but I have to say that I'm not crazy about it so far. My biggest problem with this spray is the smell; it smells herbal, but it doesn't really smell like la...

Review: Scalp Detox by Bumble and Bumble

Image
I am a person that has trouble with my hair. I can't style it, I can't make it grow, and I can't handle it when it's humid; I just can't do anything with my hair. However, one of my biggest problems is that my hair is extremely dry, like Sahara dry. Because my hair is so dry, I don't wash it very often, which means that I get a lot of buildup on my scalp between washes. Most of the buildup is residue from hair care products, and it's really difficult to get off the scalp. I also co-wash my hair, which means that the products I use to clean my hair are extremely gentle and aren't designed to deep wash your scalp. Anyway, I wanted to give you that background because I think it explains why I was so excited to learn about Bumble and Bumble's Scalp Detox. I saw the product for the first time when I was scrolling through Instagram one day, and I immediately thought "that's for me."  Bumble and Bumble says that the product "removes bui...

Colour Riche Shine Lipstick (by L'Oreal) Review

Image
Today I want to give you a quick review of L'Oreal's new (well, fairly new) Colour Riche Shine Lipsticks. These lipsticks first caught my attention a few months ago when I saw Emily Noel's review on her channel. I immediately decided that I wanted to try these lipsticks and purchased three shades. I've been using these lipsticks for almost two months now, so I've had plenty of time to form an opinion about these lipsticks. Before I jump into my review, you should know that this lipstick comes in 16 shades and each lipstick costs $9.99, which I think is a fair price for a L'Oreal lipstick. Now, let's get to the review. First of all, I want to talk about the packaging . As you can see, this lipstick comes in a clear plastic, faux crystal tube. I know a lot of people think that this packaging is very pretty, but it didn't really appeal to me at first. I find the packaging to be a bit bulky, and I think the clear plastic shows wear and tear very ea...

The De-Clutter is Real

Image
Let's get one thing straight, I have way too much makeup. I am confident that I will continue to have way too much makeup for the rest of my life. I have enough eyeshadow and lipstick to make sure that my lips will be sticky (weird choice of words, I know) and my eyes will be shadowed for the rest of my life -- and then some. Anyway, I don't mind having a lot of makeup, but, sometimes, it gets a little overwhelming (even for me). So, I recently embarked upon a de-clutter. I especially wanted to de-clutter some stuff because I was preparing to move and I didn't want to drag a lot of unnecessary stuff to my next apartment (I'm fairly sure that I did drag a lot of unnecessary stuff to my new apartment, but that's beside the point). Anyway, I managed to de-clutter quite a bit of stuff, and I wanted to talk about the items I'm getting rid of, so let's get into the details. These are the products I decided to de-clutter: Bright Set Loose Finishing Powder by S...

April Favorites

Image
This month was extremely busy for me; I spent a lot of time traveling, moving, and packing to move. Consequently, I don't have a lot of new favorites. If I was wearing makeup, I was mostly using tried and true favorites. However, I do have a couple of new favorites to share with you. Flawless Finish Foundation by e.l.f. - I have four words: I love this foundation. If you know me, you know that I'm a huge fan of drugstore foundations. In my opinion, there's no real reason to buy a high end foundation; quite honestly, drugstore foundations provide almost the same quality. I would say that the Flawless Finish Foundation provides medium to full coverage and a demi-matte, satin finish. It's a beautiful foundation, it's very flattering on the skin, and it's fairly long wearing. On an average day, I get a solid eight hours of wear out of this foundation. Plus, it's only $6; there's no way that you'll get better value for that price. I highly recom...

March & April Empties

Image
As I've said before, I really like writing posts about products that I used up. I buy so much makeup that sometimes it's nice to prove to myself that I can/do use things up and actually get my money's worth. It's weird, but I feel accomplished when I use things up, and, somehow, I used a LOT of things up this month (which is good because I'm moving this month and I'm trying to de-clutter things before I move). Anyway, let's get into this month's empties: Airspun Translucent Extra Coverage Loose Face Powder by Coty - Say what you want about this powder, but it lasts FOREVER. I think I purchased this product in October, I used it almost everyday, and I'm only now using it up. That's crazy, no? Anyway, I finally used up this powder, and I have opinions about it. At first, I didn't love this product because I thought it looked dry and cakey on my skin; however, I realized that I was using too much product. I think this is definitely a '...

It Really is Marvelous! Review: Marvelous Mauves Eyeshadow Palette by Dose of Colors

Image
The Marvelous Mauves Eyeshadow Palette by Dose of Colors has had my attention for quite a while. I feel like everyone in the beauty community has brought it up at some point (usually to say how great it is), so, naturally, I've been wanting to try it. I finally purchased it a couple of weeks ago when it was on sale during the Ulta 21 Days of Beauty Sale. I've been using it for about a week or so, and I have THOUGHTS about it. First of all, I'm going to spoil the review a bit by saying that I absolutely LOVE this palette . After I finished applying it to my eyes for the first time, I was like "where has this palette been all my life?" I truly think this is one of the best matte formulas I've ever used. You know how comfortable you feel when you put on your favorite jeans? That's how I felt when I started applying these shadows to my eyelids. I immediately felt so comfortable with the palette. Okay, now that I've gushed about this palette, let me giv...
