Review: Turmeric Face Milk by Fourth Ray Beauty/ColourPop
So, I've been testing out products by Fourth Ray Beauty for a while now, and I've had pretty good luck with all their products so far (in case you don't know, Fourth Ray Beauty is ColourPop's sister brand; it produces skin care products). So, when I saw them come out with face milks, I added them to my list of things to test out. However, for one reason or another, I didn't end up testing out ColourPop's face milks until just a little while ago.
The first one that I picked up was Fourth Ray's Turmeric Face Milk. I've had it for a few weeks now, and I've had a lot of chances to test it out, so I'm ready to share my thoughts with you.
First of all, I should emphasis that this product is marketed as a skin care item, not a primer or something like that. ColourPop says that it is "a subtle, illuminating moisture booster for radiant skin." I think this is accurate, but the effects are very short lived. When you're using a skin care product, you sort of expect the products to make a lasting impact on your skin. However, the glowing, illuminating effects of this face milk basically go away at the end of the day when you take your makeup off.
I think I would have liked this better if ColourPop had decided to market it as a primer, or even as a moisturizer. I think it makes a great illuminating primer; I just wouldn't say that it delivers the sort of benefits I expect from a skincare product. And, to be completely honest, if I wanted an illuminating primer, I'd probably just buy an illuminating primer (and it would probably be cheaper).
In conclusion, I should also note that this product retails for $14, which seems way too expensive for a) a ColourPop product and b) a product of this quality. Although I do enjoy this face milk, I think it's going to be nonessential for most consumers. As I explained, the Turmeric Face Milk doesn't do much, and you could probably achieve the same effect with a cheaper product.
Final Rating: 5/10
