Review: Photo Focus Line by Wet n' Wild
To the great delight of makeup lovers everywhere, Wet n' Wild recently released a line of new face products: the Photo Focus Line. The line includes a pressed powder, a setting spray, a liquid foundation, and a concealer. The second I saw it, I was like "done. have to have it. have to try it." So, I immediately picked up the foundation and the concealer. I haven't been able to get my hands on the powder or the setting spray yet, but, don't worry they can't hide from me forever!
Anyway, let's get to the review!
I have mixed feelings about the Photo Focus Foundation. At first, I really hated this foundation. The first few times I used it, it applied really patchily (is that a word?) and unevenly, and it broke down really quickly. Eventually, I figured out that I needed to work with the foundation quickly to get even coverage. I apply some foundation to one part of my face, blend it in, and then move on to the next section. If you don't work quickly, the foundation will start to get thick and difficult to blend. After I figured that out, I was able to get much better results. The foundation applied evenly, had full coverage, and had a nice, satin finish. It also gives your skin a kind of air-brushed look, which is really nice. On the other hand, I really, really hate the smell of this foundation. To me, it sort of smells like paint, which I really do not like (for obvious reasons). The smell does go away after it dries, but I'm still annoyed by it. The other thing I really dislike is the applicator. It has this weird little plastic spatula that you use to dab the foundation on your face, and I do not like it. Like, why couldn't they have given us a doe foot applicator? Or a pump? It's so difficult and awkward to get this product on your face. It annoys me.
Final rating: 6/10
On the other hand, I really, really like the Photo Focus Concealer (which is weird because no one else seems to like it). It has full coverage, it blends well, and it has a really interesting texture. It's almost like a gel, which is nice because it sits on top of your skin and doesn't sink into the lines around your eyes (if that makes sense). It does get a little patchy if you manipulate it too much, so you have to be careful not to blend it too much. My only complaint is that it's a little dark for my skin (and I bought the lightest shade!); there are only six shades of this concealers, and I feel like they really need to come out with some more shades.
Final rating: 8/10
All in all, I think these products are an excellent value for the money. The foundation is $5.99 and the concealer is $3.99. I can put up with a lot of flaws in the product for the that kind of price. But, all in all, there aren't very many problems with these products. Wet n' Wild creates great products for great prices, and the Photo Focus line is a good example.
