New to My Collection (April 2018)
I buy a lot of makeup, skincare products, and haircare products; I review a very small number of those products on this blog. So, a few months ago, I decided to start this "New to My Collection" series. The point of this series is to talk about products that I wouldn't normally mention on my blog (products that are neither fantastic nor disappointing). It's just a way to review more products more efficiently, and I LOVE reviewing products.
Anyway, let's jump into the products that are new to my collection.
Oil of Morocco Argan Oil 3-Day Smooth Perfect Blow Dry Smoothing Cream by Marc Anthony - Sometimes, I see the names of certain products and think, "that company just tried to jam as many descriptive words in there as possible." This is one of the those products; the name is certainly a mouthful. However, on a practical level, I think this product is pretty good. In general, I like and trust Marc Anthony products, and this product is no exception. I don't blow dry my hair (I try very hard to avoid using heat on my hair), so I just use it as a smoothing cream. However, I do think it reduces frizz and softens my hair, which is really all I ask for. I use so many products on my hair -- lots of oils and creams etc -- that it's sometimes difficult for me to tell which product is doing what to my hair. I bought this because it was on sale and because I'm a sucker for hair products of this variety, and I would certainly repurchase it if it was on sale.
Light Luminous Reflective Oil by Wella - As I said, I'm a sucker for hair products. I have a million hair products, and I keep buying more. I couldn't tell you why. Anyway, I LOVE hair oils, so, when I saw that this oil was on sale, I had to pick it up. Normally, this oil is $40, which is CRIMINALLY expensive. I got it for $11. This product is in no way worth $40, and I beg you not to buy it at full price under any circumstances. However, for $11, it's a good product. It's a very light oil, which I like, and it doesn't really leave your hair feeling greasy. This oil claims to create "beautiful luminous reflections." I'm going to keep it real. I have no idea what that means in the context of hair. I'm guessing they just mean that it'll make your hair shiny. That might be true, but it doesn't make your hair $40 worth of shiny. Long story short, this is good product, but it's only worth the money if you buy it on sale. If you can't get it on sale, pick up one of Marc Anthony's oils. It's more or less the same thing.
Miss Manga Mascara by L'Oréal - I've been wanting to try this mascara for a long, long time, and I finally got around to picking it up (I think I found it in a random Target in Connecticut). This mascara has gotten some mixed reviews (which makes me want to try it even more). However, I personally really like clumpy, dramatic mascaras, so I think I'll like this. I haven't tried it yet, but I'll keep you posted.
Illuminate + Accentuate Brush Kit by Real Techniques - I actually got this kit for Christmas; however, I didn't actually start using it until March because I had to leave it at my dad's house because I didn't have enough room in my suitcase to bring it home with me (which hurt my heart). Anyway, I have it now and have been using this set. This particular set includes two sponges and five brushes. Personally, I think these sorts of sets are always worth picking up. Real Techniques makes great brushes and great sponges, so, if you can get them in set at a discounted price, they're definitely worth the buy. I think this particular set is great because it has sponges and both face and eye brushes. Plus, these brushes are really pretty. I'm really satisfied with this kit, and I've been using it a lot.
Winging It Pressed Powder Face Duo by ColourPop - I was really excited when I saw that ColourPop was releasing a butterfly collection. I mean, what's not to like about butterflies? I thought it was a really cute concept. However, when I saw the collection, I wasn't really attracted to any of the products. The only exception was the Winging It Face Duo; as soon as I saw it, I thought, "that looks cool, I'm going to buy that." This duo comes with a highlight and a satin blush. Long story short, this Face Duo is just okay. The highlight is not my favorite. It looks a bit dull on my skin; it's okay, and I'll continue to use it, but I have other purple toned highlights that I prefer. The blush is more my speed. It's a satin blush, which means that it's got some very subtle shimmer to it. Online this blush looks straight up purple, but on the skin, it's definitely pink. I like pink blushes, so I'll definitely continue to use this one. I have other blushes that I prefer, but I have no complaints about this one. The blush is very pigmented, so you have to go in with a light hand. The packaging is adorable; however, the designed, Butterfly packaging is actually just a sleeve. When you take it out of the sleeve, the packaging is just white, which is a little disappointing. All in all, I think this duo is okay; I could take it or leave it.

Strengthening Grow Long Anti-Breakage Oil by Marc Anthony - I haven't tried out this product yet. Why? Because I have another product from Marc Anthony's Grow Long line, and I'm trying to use it up first. I don't know why I feel the need to have two products that are more or less the same thing. Yet, here we are. Anyway, I'm intrigued by the idea of an Anti-Breakage Oil, and I think it's precisely what I need in my life. If this really works, it'll be a holy grail product for me.
