Review: Boom, Boom, Bloom Collection by MAC
First of all, I should say that I've had my eye on this collection for a long time. I believe it was released in May, but it was announced in March or April, and I immediately knew that I was going to have to pick up at least one thing from the collection; the packaging was just too pretty to pass up!
As you can probably tell, the Boom, Boom, Bloom Collection was inspired by cherry blossoms. Everything is super pretty and pink, and the packaging is decorated with pink petals on a white background infused with pink glitter. That sort of vibe is right up my alley, so I picked up four items from the collection. Let's dive into the reviews!
High-Light Powder in Fleur Real - Well, THIS was a controversial product. A lot of people HATED this product because it was advertised as a highlighter, and it was actually just a matte powder with a glitter over spray...which was a questionable choice my MAC to say the least. Personally, I like this product. I brushed off the over spray and I use the powder underneath as a blush. It's a really pretty blush, and I like it a lot, but they should not have advertised this product as a highlighter. I understand why everyone was upset about this product; if I purchased it thinking it was a highlighter, I would have been upset too. Fortunately, I heard about the controversy before I received the product. I had been wishing that there was a blush in the collection, so I didn't mind at all that it was a matte powder. So, if you want to buy this product, just be aware of what it is before you add it to your shopping cart.
Lipglass in Heartmelter - I've been thinking about trying the MAC Lipglass for a long time, but I didn't get around to it until now, which was a total mistake because these lip glosses are GREAT. I really like the formula; it's creamy and not too sticky, the perfect lip gloss qualities IMO. I picked up the shade Heartmelter, which is the perfect mid-tone, mauve pink; I find myself reaching for it all the time. I highly recommend both the lip glass formula and the shade Heartmelter.
Lipstick in Wagasa Twirl - I don't think I need to talk about MAC's lipstick formula because, at this point, it's world famous. But, seriously, do you remember back in the day when everyone recommended MAC lipsticks non-stop? Well, that's still me. I have a ton of MAC lipsticks, and I treasure them all. Their formula is top-notch in my opinion. This particular shade is extremely pink (as you can see in the swatches). It's not an everyday shade for me, but I do think it's a great shade for spring and summer, and it's the perfect shade for those days when you want to add a spot of brightness to your look.
Lipstick in Hi-Fructease - As I noted above, I love the MAC lipstick formula. This particular lipstick is really an everyday shade for me. It's a pink-toned nude, and it's just a beautiful neutral shade. I imagine a lot of people would get a ton of use out of it. I highly recommend this shade if you just want to pick up one thing from the collection.
