Review: Love in London Palette by BH Cosmetics
Okay, I'm not gonna lie: BH Cosmetics kind of disappointed me with this palette. I picked it up because I really enjoyed their Royal Affair palette, which was released for holiday 2019. When I saw the Love in London palette, I thought to myself "if that's anything like the royal affair palette, I have to have it." Unfortunately, it wasn't really anything like the Royal Affair palette.
However, before I get too far ahead of myself, let me tell you more about this palette. It comes with 16 shades and costs $16, which is a stellar deal if you ask me. It's available for sale on BH's website and Ulta.com, where it has excellent reviews, which is confusing to me because I find this palette to be very mediocre.
With that being said, let's dive into the review.
First of all, let's talk about the packaging. It's beautiful. In fact, if I'm honest with myself, I probably bought this palette for the packaging. As you can see in the photos, it has this cool London themed graphic that is very visually appealing.
The shade selection was on point too. There's a really nice range of matte shades, going from light transition shades all the way up to deep, smokey shades. There were a bunch of nice, every day shimmers that looked very wearable too. On the face of it, this should have been a very nice every day palette.
And, for some people, I'm sure this will be a great every day palette. I just have too many other great, inexpensive palettes to say that this one is worth buying. If you want an inexpensive
The only problem is the formula is not great. These shades are decently pigmented, but they all blend into the same color on the lid. This is especially a problem with the matte shadows; they just end up being a muddy mess on the eyes. The shimmer shades are a little better. The problem is that when you apply them, they all look more or less the same on the skin (except for the blue shades of course, but those weren't as pigmented or easy to apply). So, basically, you have 16 shades that can produce 1 or 2 looks.
That's not such a great value in my opinion.
Final rating: 5/10
